One of my favourite players ever. Will be sorely missed.

We have been spoiled with top class left backs for as long as I can remember. Going to be tough for whoever comes in to live up to the standards set by Shorey, Harding, Armstrong, Bertrand and Harte.

Sad to see him go as he did well for us, but the right decision IMO.

Just goes to show a good Harte these days is hard to find.

Hasn't been good enough for about 18 months. His great left foot has covered his shortcomings as a poor left back and this season even that has deserted him. His place in two teams of the season is a joke, and he's been the weak link in our team for a while, most notably in the play-off final. He's a great story of someone who fell down the leagues then clawed his way back. Goodbye Ian, thanks for your efforts.

El Diablo The sweetest left peg you're likely to see in the hoops - best moment - the 40 yard pin perfect pass to Shane Long running goal ward who tucked it away nicely - ( cant for the life of me remember who we were playing tho)

Great goal. 5-0 win at home to Middlesbrough. Pin point ball from Harte.

Cheers Ian and good luck.

Maguire Fantastic Indian summer for Ian Harte imho. Obviously the Prem is too much at this stage in his career and I hope we get someone more dynamic in to replace him, but his left foot is as good as i've seen at RFC.

Indeed, let's not forget he had dropped down to L1 with Carlisle and his career looked on the wane. To move back up the divisions is rare for a player older than 30, gotta give him kudos for that.

Shame really, he's one of those player I'd like to have offered a coaching opportunity to if he was interested. Certainly be a great person to have about for training on set pieces

Hope BMD gives him a chance at Leeds would be great to see him playing there again.

Thanks for all the great memories the best one has to be that free kick against Nottingham away.

Best left foot I have seen up close and I have seen a few in my time.

Thanks Hartey, all the best in the future.

Free kick against Forest away when we won 4-3 was quality too. Knew when he was lining it up that it was going to go in.

Solid Championship right back, especially in the 2011/12 season. The calm way he slotted that penalty 3rd goal at West Ham away last season summed that up.

It was always only going to be a couple of seasons given his age.

I know, I guess I put him in because he was so much better than Marcus Williams, Scott Goulbourne and Julian Kelly.

Has anyone been following Joseph Mills on his loan? Was showing promise last season and Adkins knows him from their time at Saints together.

Bye Harte - best of luck for the future. What a top pro - firmly in the Giggs kind of mould. I'd like to see him on the coaching staff too really.

St. Brynjar Hasn't been good enough for about 18 months.

Absolutely clueless!! He was a massive part of our success last season, especially in the final 5 months! He was always going to be out of his depth this season, just as the majority of the team were [under McDermott].

Cheers Hartey, my personal highlight being his free-kick nicking us a 1-0 away win vs Brighton to set us on our way to the title.
