Alex, 6’4”, is a goalkeeper with Championship side Reading who was loaned to Yeovil Town in League One at the start of the 2009-10 season.

TBM Sell him and then loan him back for the season.......

that wont accomplish anything...if we get promoted then we dont have a keeper with premiership quality and we would have to buy one anyway.

If Gordon Banks was dead he'd be turning in his grave right now.

We must keep him. What a fantastic talent and bright future ahead of him.

Joe Harte's soon to be back up keeper for world cup '14

Well done, Alex!

I can't see Federici and McCarthy being happy as number 2 choice next season in the Championship...... one will be off and which one depends on whether we can hold onto Alex McCarthy or not.

Hodgson hinted McCarthy might not get the chance to make his debut, however, as he looks to use on the players he is likely to rely upon in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Asked if McCarthy could play, he said: 'Not necessarily no. I regard them as preparation games rather than friendly games.

'I'm more interested in this squad to give the players who I think might be more important to us in the qualifiers in September and October a chance to really play."(I don't want) a situation where in every game you are trying to use 18 players instead of playing long periods and instead getting a 15-20 minute cameo.'

Just as expected. A flavour of the month call up like Fraser Forster earlier in the season.

I reckon he'll be gone :(

I do think we'll get £10m for him though.

In a weird way this could work in our favour with regards to not selling him. I doubt his call up will have convinced any clubs to bid who weren't already going to but it is another feather in his cap and something to bump his price further up as he is clearly in the picture for future call ups. If he does in fact become a full international we can justify asking for a silly amount of money and put clubs off paying that much.

OR

he could talk to the england team and decide he is a prem player and go on strike... 8)

sandman So Mccrappy is now McCwappy. Shows how poor the England goalkeeping options are.

I'll bite.

Once again, Mr.Federici here has been proved wrong.
