Pavel Pogrebnyak Release Clause

With a relegation release clause confirmed, how much could he be going for?

My guess is £5million. Can see Zenit going in at that price

Teams tend to put relegation release clauses in contracts that mean, should they be relegated, they must accept any offers at that price or higher for the player.

For example, if a player has a £1m release clause in his contract and you get relegated, any offers of £1m or higher must be accepted

Hi. Welcome to the board. We're a friendly bunch around here. Can I assume by your username that you were born in 1997 and are now either 15 or 16? If so, I would give a friendly piece of advice to not treat other posters like complete oxf*rding muppets by condescending them?

Thanks, and fcuk off newbie.

We want rid of him and will bite anybody's hand off. A token fee might come into it, maybe, but that is all.

Nobody in the Premier League will be too keen on him. He might have admirers in Europe somewhere, but I can't imagine that Pogrebnyak is going to be a goldmine for us.

Don't forget Hammond got half a million for Andy Hughes and ten times that for Matt Mills

I would imagine the release clause would be between £0-£2.5 million.
Any more than £2 million then it would be pointless, because no one in their right mind would pay more than that.
It might be as low as £0 if the ridiculously high wages that are rumoured are correct.

As much as I loved Andy Hughes during his time with us getting £500k for him was genius.

He isn't worth anything near £5m. £2.5m is more like it. I don't want him here next season anyway. For such a big guy he can't stand his ground like Roberts, he has no pace, he takes a day and a half to turn, and it's ineffective in a 4-3-2-1.

You'd have to be batshit crazy to put a clause in allowing a player to leave for free if you get relegated. And a player would have to be batshit crazy to allow a clause for them to be sacked with no compensation on relegation.

Agents are more savvy than that, and Hammond sure as hell isn't batshit crazy.

I'd guess between £1m and £2.5m.

If the player does not, under any circumstances, want to stay at the club if relegated, and the club doesn't, under any circumstances, want the player to stay if relegated, then a relegation release clause of £0 would not be batshit crazy, especially if the club's initial transfer spend was £0 and the player is confident of finding a new club.

But we've been paying 'crazy' wages for a season...not too mention the fact he probably got a bit of a wedge in terms of a signing on fee etc...so over the season he has cost something and it would be in the club's interest to try and recoup something!

Not sure we have been paying crazy wages, cant think of many who could be on over 30k.

I expect the pog has release fee of zero.
