What a day that was.

I still can't watch after Archie's penalty miss. I can remember being so breathless after going 2-0 up so early in the game. The atmosphere was amazing. Then the penalty, and knowing that had it gone in we were almost certainly in the Premier League... and then the save, and the loose ball being cleared away, and from that moment on I felt like we were holding on for the rest of the game. Such painful memories, even though they've all but been put to bed since - it still hurt!

I just remember how absolutely shattered we were in extra-time, all of our players had cramp.

Was a superb effort by the boys that day, just wasn't to be.

That would probably be McGinley. Much that I hate to admit it, that Bolton side played some excellent football throughout the season. They and us were, without doubt, the best footballing sides in the Division. How shit like Boro won the title is beyond me.

I met Stuart Lovell in a Glasgow hotel 4-5 years back, he was managing Queen of the South who were staying there and some players noticed my son's Reading shirt so we got talking and they were bantering with him about what sort of a player he was and did reading fans like him. I went through some of his greater moments but decided to avoid that penalty altogether, I think he knew I was deliberately swerving it.

I bumped into Archie in McKowski's not long after he left. I went up to the bar to get a drink and he was there next to me waiting to get one. I told him what a legend he was to RFC fans and bought him his drink, he said something about people not liking him so much after Wembley and he looked quite glum about it. made me feel quite sad about things.
