Unbelievable Jeff
SCIAG
Ian Royal Schmeichel's not actually that good though, unless he's made some serious improvements over the last year or so I haven't noticed. He's done as well as he has, because he's trading on daddy's name.

Schmeichel is pretty darn good. His problem is that he's eccentric. I think, if anything, there has been a backlash against him because of his name.

He really is not that good. Very error prone and I think if he wasn't the son of a great, there would be no hype surrounding him what so ever

Agreed - and he's had his PL chance, for Man City, and hardly covered himself in glory.

Remind us all again how old he was and experienced he was when he was given that chance?

He was 20. At that age, Alex McCarthy was playing in League 1.

I suppose Dirk wouldn't have signed Shane Long for West Brom because he'd played in the top flight in his early 20s and hardly covered himself in glory.

AthleticoSpizz Shorey never played against Brazil nor Germany

Must have been an imposter then I was sat there watching wearing my Reading shirt in two of the first games at the new Wembley. Mind you, it was almost 6 years ago - easy to forget!

Is it considered normal to wear a Reading shirt (or any club shirt) at an England game?
Considering wearing my shirt tomorrow but don't want to get beaten up or a load of abuse from the EDL/thick contingent of England fans.

You'll be fine. I used to have an England membership and never had any bother from home fans. The only thing that could happen tomorrow night is Rangers(Glasgow) fans trying get into the game and to cause trouble against the Irish fans.

Where abouts you sitting, I'm wearing my Reading shirt, mainly as I don't have a recent England one

And Shane Long will likely start upfront.

Long and McCarthy used to play in the same team together. That was my point. But ok :)

North Stand upper tier in Block 552, which is about level with the halfway line. You?

I'll bring my binoculars and look out for a Reading shirt then.

I think you've missed the point Athletico was making. The previous poster said "McCarthy will be the first Reading player to play for England".

I think you missed the point to be fair.

It seemed to me that AthleticoSpizz and M Brook were sharing admonishment for the failing in memory of our friend JayRoyal.

This whole scandal occurred though, because AthleticoSpizz refused to quote JayRoyal.

Has the line up been announced yet? Let's hope there's the usual loads of subs made so McCarthy gets to play a bit of the game.
