AthleticoSpizz Wrong decision - we got relegated

just to put the proverbial cat amongst the hobnob squawkers

No dummy you are naive. NA was not brought in to keep us up. We were doomed along time before bm was fired.
We were jammy with some results in february. we then lost to wigan and villa which were the final nails (two of many)
In our pl coffin. Na is AZ's appointment playing the kind of football he wants to see. He had time to assess our poor pl
Squad and prepare for the chumpionship.

For me it was the right timing and the right appointment.

IF it proves to be the right appointment then it was more luck than judgement on AZ's behalf as NA was third choice. We'd have had Di Canio if it hadn't been for the STAR poll.

:|

You're basing this on bookies' favourites?

Sacking Brian was the only decision that could be made, yes, the timing was awkward, but he was so out of his depth it was painful. His transfer dealings were appalling, his man management appalling, the style of football we were playing was appalling, and the results were appalling. How do you argue with that?

Now I wait for my first 'F' off newbie' comment, I'm sure it will come, in fact I will welcome it with open arms.

Tbh I'm not really for abuse. More of a pacifist myself. But Brian, he had to go, can't understand why so many wanted him to stay.

They thought he'd win the league next season.

I didn't want him sacked on principle. He'd done well to get that far and deserved to keep his job, not become a victim of his own success. The decision was probably the right one, but it didn't quite sit right with me.

Ian Royal You're basing this on bookies' favourites?

There's a reason why bookies are a little bit wealthier than you and me.

The bookies made him an early favourite because he was spotted in the crowd at a Wigan game, no other reason. You honestly think the bookies knew who Anton had in mind?

In manager markets they set their odds based purely on money flows, and given that the only clue anyone had when Brian was sacked was that PDC had been spotted watching a football game (whoda thought it eh?) the money was mostly for him at the very start.

"It was just a coincidence. I was there only to watch the game," Di Canio told BBC Sport.

It is understood Reading have not made an approach for Di Canio.

Also, lol at the idea that had Anton wanted Di Canio he'd have been swayed from the appointment by a STAR poll.

I think that's how I feel too, in a much better-worded way than I wrote earlier.

Personally, I'd have thought that, like most football club owners, the support of the fans would be very important to him. Owners and chairmen don't like being barracked by fans.

Sounds like STAR was fed information concerning Di Canio (perhaps the owner testing the water) and decided to take the unprecedented step of doing whatever they could to ensure that it didn't come to fruition.

Sounds like STAR was reacting to the newspaper headlines that were reacting to the fact that Di Canio was spotted in the stadium.

If you want to believe that he was first choice then fair enough, but stop throwing your dick around as if it's fact. Ta.

Lose an argument? You actually think you've proven in any possible way that Di Canio was Anton's first choice?

We're all twats on here, so feel free to have a go at me as much as you want, but don't beat the owner with a stick that is purely a figment of yours' and the bookies' imagination.
