Should this be merged with the thread on UR&G or vice versa?

Seems I have been mis-quoted by the press. Just to clarify I am currently in talks with Reading to extend the year remaining on my contract.

Given his agent's history with being 'in talks' with Reading I'll reserve calling it 'good news'

Means absolutely nothing. So was Pearce. Look what happened.

Probbaly end up on the bench for a season if his agent has his way.

What a shame.

That's what I was thinking.

It stinks - yet another reason why I'm falling out of love for this great game.

So... do we hate him or not? I just can't decide.

Suggesting that he might take up an offer to better his career should the opportunity arise is on a par with the Woolwich murder in my eyes. But now he's suggested he might also be happy to continue in his current job for more money, that shows what a loyal, kind, committed, selfless man he can be.

I've built the effigy, it's doused in petrol but I'm yet to strike the match.

floyd__streete HRK h8 now? Really? He looked one of our best players last season and has youth on his side, but you crack on with the h8 if you must.

Agreed

I reckon he's improved to the extent that he'll be a very decent player in the Champ next season.

Rare 'greeding with Mags and Floyd. Will be crucial next season, and given the leading role he was given by Adkins towards the end of the season it seems he feels the same way.

Complete non-quote and non-story that's started this all off though

Although I'd change 'will' to 'could'

I rate him highly, I think he could have an amazing season next year and I think he and possibly Mariappa are the most important players to try and hold on to.

Disagree that this is a non story. Smacks very much of 'clever' work by his brother/agent. Say something knowing it will be/can be claimed that it had been misconstrued, generate the headlines to make clubs aware that you are open to offers and then stick out a tweet saying that you have been misunderstood and are looking to extend your deal with your current employer. Then your agent/brother can use the interested generated from other clubs as a way of upping the stakes in the contractual negotiations.

Regardless of the consequences of this story and the truth or non-truth behind it, it was hugely unwise for HRK to say he wants a top four club. I mean, really, in his dreams. Of course he 'wants' a top four club but there is no way he is good enough and it just makes him look like a complete plonker.

Agreed, i'm quite unhappy with this whole situation. His brother can oxf*rd right off.

Football agents are after one thing and one thing only - money. I bet Paul Scholes' agent was extremely pised off :D

Is HRK good enough for the EPL? Yes. Will he become a better player if he plays a full season for Reading in the Championship? Undoubtedly.

I think the fact that he said he wants to play for a top 4 club, shows it's more of a future ambiton though. I know footballers are arrogant, but surely he's not that arrogant that he thingks he's currently good enough? From comments he made at the end of the season, he knows he needs to be palying games at this stage of his career, so hopefully he feels there is more opportunity to play under Adkins than an unknown manager. But then again he'll probably be happy to sit on the bench for a bigger wage.

A lot of professional sports people have a ridiculous amount of confidence in their ability, it's part of what got them to where they are. I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of players in the Championship thought they could play for a top 4 team
