Does anyone on this site talk about football except us newbies? p.s. liked the video. as for From_-despair_to_badhair, Pompous Oaf is a really good put-down but, I think you would need to aim it at hundreds on this site before you ever got to me. Also, having a brain and using it, knowing about football, knowing about Reading are no bad things. Why do you, who lack all, have a problem with that?.

Whilst we have more financial clout under TSI, we, as a club, have never been in a position to spend £8m on "potential", it's financial madness. In fact, I don't believe we are in a position to spend £8m on anyone in the Championship, which means that, although I think Gary Hooper is a better bet than Jordan Rhodes was a year ago if the asking price is that high, we will walk away.

To be honest, any animosity towards you is down to you come out with a "mother knows best" attitude. It's a forum, it's all about banter and differing opinions but you don't seem to be able to handle the banter. As the old adage goes, if you can't take it, don't dish it out. If you want people to agree with you uncritically and kiss your arse all the time, might I suggest creating and administering your own forum?

FridaysGhost If this site does not support free speech, which seems to be the case at the moment, why have none of the high-ups come out and said so?

Don't blame the site or some moderator conspiracy for your complete inability to formulate clear and coherent speech.

This site does enable you to successfully use paragraphs, apostrophes and generally portray yourself as an educated person, it is your brain and upbringing that does not enable you to perform such basic tasks.

Why would Hooper drop from playing Champions League football to play in the Championship? If this one came off, it would be an impressive bit of work by the club.

every week we hear of footballers wanting to pit themselves against the best in the world, this guy was beating barcelona last year... cannot see why he would want to be playing doncaster away midweek instead

I don't think anyone has mentioned that it is pretty unlikely that GH will drop down to Champ level ... an important point to make.

I thought we were trying to say that he would have to go up a level to join us in the championship?

Anyone else unconvinced he'd join a CL team over staying at Celtic for another season or joining a PL side?

I honestly think the Championship is better than the SPL, well most teams. Kris Boyd didn't exactly set the leage alight when he made "the step down".

no chance of signing Hooper still I know

We have no chance if there are numerous Premier League clubs in for him - Norwich made 4 bids in January. Surely he will end up there...Hughton must also know him from his time in Spurs' Academy.

The Scottish champions resisted several bids from Chris Hughton's side in January but the Canaries will renew their attempts to sign the former Scunthorpe man this summer

By Greg Stobart

Norwich City will make a fresh move for Celtic star Gary Hooper and are confident of beating a host of Premier League rivals to the striker's signature this summer.

The Canaries had bids worth up to £8 million rejected for the 25-year-old in January but believe that they can land their man for as little as £4m before the new season.

Hooper has just one year remaining on his Celtic contract and has refused to sign a new deal as he eyes a return to England.

Norwich have already signed Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Sporting Lisbon for a club-record £8.5m but manager Chris Hughton still wants Hooper to add more firepower to his strikeforce.

Hull City, Southampton and Sunderland have all been linked with summer bids for the Bhoys man but the player would prefer a switch to Carrow Road and is attracted by the prospect of linking up with Hughton.

Hooper changed his agent in February and a transfer to Norwich would allow the Essex-born forwward to return back to the South East.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has spoken of his desire to keep the striker with the SPL champions but the former Scunthorpe man wants a new challenge after scoring 31 goals in all competitions last season. Hooper also believes that a return to England would boost his chances of forcing his way in to Roy Hodgson's plans ahead of the World Cup in Brazil next year.

Celtic signed Hooper, who started his career in the Tottenham academy, for £2.5m in 2010 and he has gone on to score 82 goals in 137 appearances for the Scottish club.

From SPL to English Championship is too much of a step up for me.

Maybe he needs a few seasons in League 2 to prove he's as good as we think he is? :D

I can't see him giving up the chance of Champions League football to play in the championship.

didnt norwich sign 2 strikers recently? becchio in the January window and ricky van wolfswinkel in march. they might already be set for strikers considering they play 4-5-1? we could conceivably sign hooper still.

Except Becchio has been a misfit who will probably move on before next season starts or bench at best.

if norwich get hooper too i could see them being top 10 with holt, hooper, and v. wolfswinkel.
