On contributions so far, he's probably the worst player in Reading's history v expectation.

Did he play in the 1927 cup semi?

Sean Evers probably takes that award for me.

I hated Evers but I expected less from him than the captain of Sporting Lisbon!

Not sure I had much expectation of a player who last walked unaided back in February 2011, costing the club the maximum you are allowed to withdraw from a cashpoint in town.

Steve Moran was a bit of a disappointment and what about the guy Burns signed from Newcastle, can't remember his name but he was a short youngster with round face who had been scoring goals for fun before joining us and proving he couldn't hit a cow's backside with a banjo?

Dunno, I expected a 700k mega hyped prospect from Luton to spunk all over Division 2, I didn't expect as much from a bloke who'd played three minutes that season and had come to us for what 300k or something silly?

And I'll trump you with a Jamie Lambert, as he raised the expectations higher before trashing them

Think is was about 550k quoted at the time. It was a terrible singing but it was still only a bloke called Sean.

Signing a young player who's already captained Sporting Lisbon (ok, one we all knew wasn't fit) only to discover he was completely incapable of even challenging for a place in the team is pretty disappointing. At least Evers played a few times.

Christ, Evers was shit though. It's made me angry just thinking about it.

I don't know, Mass "freinds with George Weah" Sarr had me pretty excited before, after and during his debut game, only do crush all my dreams.

But that just made it even worse, always hoping he'd do it again, and always being dissapointed.

Sigh.

Depends on your opinion of what qualifies a player for such an accolade, but you can't have this discussion without considering the indomitable Emerse Fae...

That's the man!

Seems he is still playing at age 35.

Last season was with Bedlington Terriers where he scored 31 goals in 44 appearances. With form like that in the lower divisions I'm surprised we didn't re-sign him!

He dropped out of The Football League when he moved to Northwich Victoria in August 2004.[4] This allowed him to play part-time for Cheshire club while running a taxi business in his native Newcastle

Should have linked up with Terry the taxi!

No, no, Carrico really isn't.

Would imagine Graeme Murty would have been getting similar stick given his seemingly eternal injury problem for the first 9 months he was with us.

Ray Houghton would probably have been worse in those terms. Of course there always more time for Daniel to take up the running in this but I don't think he will if he stays this summer.

Yes - Ray Houghton.

Considering the pedigree the most disappointing signing we've ever made - by a country mile.
