mumbo-jumbo Not sure I want someone who appears to be a complete bell end in the team, however much potential they may have. I just worry how disruptive they might be. Reminiscent of QPR last season , a bunch of talented but lazy and disinterested players on fat wages and with even fatter egos. As my mum would say, be careful what you wish for. There must be someone else who would also appreciate a presumably vastly inflated pay packet to join a promotion campaign next season, but who is also less of a prat? Entertaining? Exciting? Not sure.

yeah, but he once played for real, so....

I've actually seen Drenthe play live for Real Madrid (came on as a sub) and live for Everton. In the latter game (away at Fulham) he scored an absolute belter before I'd even got to my seat, lit up the first half and then went missing.

He's electric when he gets going and has a great left boot but he's pretty inconsistent. Overall i'd describe him as a rich man's Lloyd Dyer.

He's a better version of Jimmy Kebe basically.

bleemin' hell you're a laugh. He's a fun signing whatever happens, even he's a disruptive bell-end it'll be enjoyable watching his career crash and burn at READING FC.

Colin Cheeselog I hope he is at least as successful as Mido was at Barnsley.

HoneyRoastHoax :| yourself, has he ever appeared in any way a connection to Reading before? No

That implies you have only heard of people connected to Reading? As an international who has played for one of the biggest clubs in the world, I assumed people would have heard of him.

Well I presume he'll turn out to be better than the last two Dutch players we had on our books.....

Summary from an Evertonian I went to aforementioned match with:

So first, the football. He is an absolutely brilliant player, he would
genuinely be one of the most talented players in the PL. He's a game
changer and will do some things which will have you shaking your head
in disbelief

He never got on with Moyes because he expects everyone to do their job
in the defensive unit and Drenthe wasn't really that interested in
that.

To get the best out of him you should just play him off a front man or
wide left and not ask anything of him defensively (or at least not
expect anything, he does surprise you every so often by pulling off a
great challenge)

In the negative column in terms of off the field, he is completely
mental. Not just a bit, I mean really bonkers. He comes from a
particularly nasty bit of Rotterdam and is reckoned to have ADD and
as a result really struggles to stay still/at home. Apparently alcohol
isn't so much the problem as he just can't switch off and so tends to
go out every night, he's also obsessively into music (he built a
recording studio in the basement of his rented accomodation within
about a week of signing for us)

The last straw when he left Everton was when, the Friday before we
played the filth in the cup semi, he was caught on CCTV breaking into
our training ground with two birds whom he proceeded to nail in the
gym (I shit you not)

In short, he's tremendous, I wish he still played/was banned from
playing for us because in the humdrum and mundanity of finishing 6th
(much like playing in the championship, I expect) he will provide
plenty of entertainment, good and bad. There aren't enough total
nutcases in the game these days, IMO

rofl, so much fro signing players who fit the Reading mould

If Adkins can get the best out of him, in the same way Warnock got the best out of Taarabt, we'll win the league.

If he can't, we flog him in January.

Either way, we'll be kept entertained and Season Ticket sales will go through the roof.

Worth the risk I'd say.

This fella, granted only from my couch and bed (watching the box), looked like absolute amazing player. Whether or not his off the field antics will go down well with the masses, I don't know. Like the previous person here said, we'll be entertained for sure, so roll on with the signing. I will touch wood to make sure this one goes through.

Does TheWearing write all the articles for Vital Football Reading? Makes himself sound like a total shaft in every piece.
