Drenthe could be the foil that gets the best out of Pogrebnyak...

LightwaterRoyal This could very well be the greatest group of players to ever play in the Championship.

Won't come close to 106 though even if we sign him and Hooper

:? (surely!?)

TFF It won't be often you see a line like this one in the Express

Drenthe failed to make the grade at Real Madrid, but will be given another chance at Reading

LOL

His ability is not in question, its his attitude. Maybe he has matured since being Russia.

melonhead would it be considered racist if every time he plays i shout ROYSTON! in a stereotypical west indian accent, like in desmonds?

I think it would be racist and culturally insensitive NOT to.

This is not the greatest group of players to ever play in the Championship, no, this is just a tribute.

maffff Just with the current team we could potentially have

McCarthy
Kelly, Morrison, Mariappa, Bridge
Karacan Guthrie
HRK (Jobi <-> Drenthe)
Pog

/

McCarthy
Kelly, Morrison, Mariappa, Bridge
Karacan Guthrie
HRK Drenthe
Pog ALF

With Feds, Gunter, Carriço Akpan, McCleary, Roberts, Jobi/ALF, Blackman

Not bearing in mind those that leave and our 6 new signings . oxf*rd me that looks a strong team for the Championship.

For some reason (no idea why) I can see Pog staying....

Assuming no more ins and outs after Drenthe, which is obviously stupid, we'll have at least 7 Prem standard players - Drenthe, McCarthy, Carrico, Guthrie, Kebe, Bridge and Pog.

If we go 4-4-2 I'd like to see:
------------------------McCarthy-----------------------

Kelly----------Mariappa-------Morrison-------Bridge

Kebe----------Guthrie---------Carrico--------Drenthe

------------------Pog---------Le Fondre--------------

Or a 4-5-1 of:

-----------------------McCarthy------------------------

Kelly--------Mariappa-------Morrison-------Bridge

---------------Guthrie---------Carrico---------------

Kebe---------------HRK/McAnuff-------------Drenthe

-------------------------Pog-----------------------------

Gunter, HRK/McAnuff, Alf, McCleary and Karacan deputising when necessary.

106?

I said group of players rather than team, the 106 was a great team but they were far from the best players to ever play in the division.

To all intents and purposes it is confirmed if it's on his Wikipedia page. Nothing could confirm it more.

obviously!

i still would feel massively let down/disappointed if this does not come off. dangling a player like that right in front of us and we cant finish the job. :x  :(

Devil's advocate mode:

Ok he played at Real and Everton but was released by them.

He's currently playing from some Russia team and can't even start every game for them, so is he really going to be good for us in the champ/Prem?

Wasn't released by Everton, was just on loan there. Impressed, but went a bit mental towards the end which put Moyes off signing him. He started every game he could for the Russian club, scored a hat-trick on debut but then got injured/wasn't totally fit.

Has the talent, if we can get some form of application out of him then he'll easily be good enough for us in both leagues.
