Still feels more like a Chronicle advertising ploy to me.

A rumour that was on the fringe of being plausible is suddenly a sensational double swoop.

If it's true I will buy a copy of the chronicle.

The ONLY way this would come off is if we paid him crazy money. I really don't want us to go too far down that route TBH. I can't see this happening myself - not if a host of PL clubs are in for him.

A chance to be part of an exciting project, rather than a chance to move to Hull and get releg8d.

USA_Loyal_Royal i literally had to contain myself from screaming in class when i saw the article about us possibly signing hooper AND drenthe. if we pull this off NA will be the greatest manager we've ever had. even the possibilities of these signings would have NEVER been likely under BM.

Signings don't make you a great manager. If he wins the league and keeps us in the PL for a couple of seasons, then, and only then, does he become a firm contender to displace Sir Steve from his throne.

andrew1957 Hooper really does have a stellar goal scoring record wherever he has played. He would potentially be the best striker we have ever had. If this comes off I suspect it will mean that both Pog and ALF are off to fund it, but again only time will tell. I just cannot see us starting Hooper and ALF together as they are too similar and I cannot see ALF wanting another season on the bench.

So Kerry Dixon, to name but one, was'nt up to much?

It will be down to the pair of them, and Nicky Hammond.

As Anton himself said earlier in the week, they all have parts to play in any addition to the squad. Anton's the owner so not only needs to provide the funds but also sell his vision of the club. Nicky does all the nitty gritty negotiation. Nige tells the player what role he'll have at the club, and also look to sell him on the way he wants his team to play.

If all 3 components come together and are successful we get ourselves a player.

St. Brynjar

This is ridiculous now. The Siege has just spontaneously combusted.

SCOOP - TheSiege leaves HNA to advise AZ on signings for the coming campaign. Well done St. Brynjar.

Possibly may happen but according to Sky Hull are all over him.. Would be a major signing and would lead to meltdown on here!

RFC have a lot to commend them and our Manager has a good relationship with Hooper from the past. Should he join a Premiership relegation certainty or a well-run, financially able Championship club who are forming a squad for immediate promotion. Tell me.

1 guaranteed season in the Premier League is better than 1 potential one. We're no more certain to go up as Hull are to come down.

We've probably got a better chance for promotion as one of the favourites, than Hull have to stay up. But we're not certain to go up and they're certainly not certain to go down.

I can't see it happening.

But if we are the only club to match Celtic's valuation then we could be in for a shout. Out-bidding a PL team would be hilarious.

St. Brynjar
Barry the bird boggler
Quite some serious PR

If this backfires we're gonna look like such twats!

I think we already achieved that with the January window.

soggy biscuit
1 season. 19 league goal

With a team that finished near the bottom

Hang on didn't Morley score 20ish goals the season we went down?

Having said that he was class.
