Poor excuse

I don't want players here that don't really want to sign for the club

Blimey, have you just hatched from an egg or something?

In the grand scheme of football, there are very, very few clubs on the planet that have the lustre that make them the kind of club that pro footballers yearn to play for.
Most footballers are just trying to make the best living they can from their job, so they will generally go where the money is.
I can assure you that Yaya Toure did not wake up every morning in his boyhood with a stiffy, brought on by contemplating a future playing for Citeh. He's just there for the money.
Home grown players are no different.
West Ham - Ince, Everton - Rooney, Southampton (soon to be spurs) - Bale, Reading - Pearce
Get real.

"The agent of former Everton midfielder Royston Drenthe claims the Holland international has agreed a move to Reading.

The Dutch winger, who has also represented Real Madrid during a distinguished career, is said to be excited about returning to England following a spell in Russia with Alania Vladikavkaz.

Drenthe spent the 2011/12 campaign on loan at Goodison Park, offering him a taste of life in the Premier League.

If he is to link up with Reading, his first task will be to try and return the Royals to the top flight.

Anton Zingarevich has outlined ambitions plans to bounce the club back into the big time at the first time of asking, and adding a player of Drenthe's undoubted ability would be some signal of intent.

The 26-year-old's representative Fabian Veldwijk told NUsport: "The contract has been signed.

"A few small things have to be arranged before it's official.

"He has a good feeling with the club and wants to play in England.""

There could a chance of that I suppose. Not sure Hull though, nice day out at Immingham?

Probably with Anton going 'I will take that possibly loony, slightly unbalanced player off your hands for 60 roubles and some potatoes. Just give me the number of his shrink, Da?'

Perhaps it said he could only leave on a free if another club made an approach. Or maybe he isn't actually free, but the fee is peanuts.

Maybe it stated he could leave for free if another club came in for him......else he had to stay with them and see off his contract (ie couldn't become a free agent)

The question maybe not how we activated the release clause but how we even knew about it. If this wasn't info from the agent/player's side then maybe all that talk about our scouting system being a lot more advanced suddenly has some credence. And if it came from their side, could suggest that he would be interested in joining this club rather than any other. Still won't believe until the cheesy pen and shirt pictures appear.

Could it be that NA/Southampton knew about it and are now acting upon it?

I think this would be a brilliant signing, but it just seems unlikely. Will he really want to play championship football?? I wont rule it out, but really glad that AZ and Adkins are showing the intent they promised anyway.
