URZZZZZ Correct me f m wrong, but was Drenthe the one who accused Messi of calling him a Negro last year during his time in Spain?

And Messi was correct according to the Oxford English Dictionary.

Definition of Negro
noun (plural Negroes)

a member of a dark-skinned group of peoples originally native to Africa south of the Sahara.

I'm not sure but it isn't considered offensive, or as offensive in Spanish is it? Regardless he should know better, knowing well that Royston does not speak Spanish.

Stupid comment regardless of what you are trying to say.

It just means black in spanish

There is enough cultural baggage when referring to a person that I would have thought it would be considered polite to avoid using it though.

No, but you can call me Caucasian and I would not get upset with you.
Why would a Black person object to being described as Negro ?
How are they comfortable with being described, I would love to know because it seems that any way you try, it is deemed offensive.

Ok then,
How would you point out a black guy in a room of similarly dressed people to someone who asked "which one is Alan"
In this context Alan is the black guy and you are not allowed to walk over and introduce them.

Genuine question, what is the least offensive term to use

The same way you would regardless of the racial mix of the people in the room.
E.g. Alan is the third from the right, or Alan is the one talking to Jeff.

Not allowed to walk over and introduce them because of segregation laws? Seriously, if you introduce anyone in a room where you cannot walk over to any you'd have to point and say "That's Alan, that's Geoff, that's Billy..."

Saying "Alan is the black guy" is rude for starters, and could/would be considered racist.

Similarly, being referred to as 'white man alan' and being segregated because of your white skin must get quite annoying after a while imo.

You just don't get it so you, why would you have to single them out by their skin colour, why not " the tall one" damn even the coloured one would be better than negro, oh and for the record I'm a honkie

The tall one, the one on the left, the one closest to whatever, the one talking to whoever, the one with the tattoo, the one with a hat on, damn there is a million ways you could point them out without referring to skin colour

Still no official quotes from Hammond, Adkins etc about Drenthe's signing. Bit odd considering just how big a signing this is. I'd have thought the club would want to be shouting from the roof tops about this, especially with season tickets on sale...

I expect they're waiting for the last piece of paperwork to go through which I presume will be the renowned "international clearance"
