Adkins said on BBRB tonight that Roberts was still not fit and wouldn't be fit by start of the season either...would be surprised if he plays much of a part at all next season..

jellytot We have a lot of striking options with pog, alf, hrk, blackman, mccleary, kebe, jobi plus roberts bit part, unless one or two leave
I cannnot see us signing a striker.

Only Pog Alf and an unfit, potentially past-it Roberts who can play the striker role.

And Blackman and Samuel (and maybe Ugwu).

Given we're probably only going to play with one striker, I think three senior strikers plus Roberts and the kids should be plenty.

Adkins mentioned yesterday he would be comfortable playing HRK up front, and I have to admit I would be too!

If Pog stays he may be good enough but in all honesty whilst he has good qualities he's been a bit of a flop and certainly can't be counted on to be our amazing Prem-guaranteeing strike force.

Blackman- as above but even less likely to be a the main man next season.

Alfie- much as I love him even in the chump he was only really good against tired legs.

Roberts is the only one who has any chance of being the man we need and in fact he was the one man that made the difference but given he's now two years older plus injury problems we definitely cannot and must not rely on him at all now.

McCleary, kebe, HRK then as our main striker? Absolutely not. On or two of them may be able to get the odd goal but theyre not experienced as out and out strikers, certainly nt the type we need.

Roberts was the experienced awesome striker that took us from an awful side to the best side in the division. We need the same now. And therefore we will get one. If not I don't fancy our chances- we may manage it, but it'll be riskier than it should be.

Sorry, but this lot could hardly get goals in the prem,I know it's a lower division but what makes people think they will be prolific in the Chump,we need another striker .

"This lot" had the 4th best chances to goals conversion rate in the PL last season. It was the lack of quality build up play that was the problem.

Create the chances in the Championship and they will get a hatful.

For only double the price we are apparently being quoted on Gary Hooper, Spurs appear to have signed Brazil's Paulhino who, on his showing against Spain, looks a phenomenal player and, in my books, a flipping bargain.

That's mental. You are suggesting because Hooper is 8 million we may as well spend 16-17m on amidfielder. That's business logic for you!!

He's saying that 8 million for Hooper is way over the odds.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but at the moment I cannot see Blackman being anything other than a bit-part player next year.

If Pog picks up a knock, that leaves us with zero strikers who can play the lone-striker role.

If Adkins is talking about bringing 'one or two more' new faces in, I imagine that a striker is a priority.

Grant Holt's off to Wigan, so he'll probs end up at Norwich

Linked with some foreigner instead. Austin's got a medical at Hull next week though, so that's that. We were never interested at those sort of fees any way. Maybe if we could spread the cost quite a bit, but I doubt otherwise. Sharp to Reading sounded very close. A goal every other game at this level at his value will be do us!
