Good Championship forward. Disappointing if we are not aiming higher than this.

I posted his full stats for each year and for four years and ALSO noted

39 10 Goals - 8 Assists 274 Mins/Goal 2,740 Minutes Forest

His figures last season are a little odd. He started with a long blank run (Forest were dire) then he scored
10 goals in 20 games, then there was another 16 games (3 not selected) where he blanked again[/quote]

There was not the slightest bit of "selectiveness"

His scoring rate in his purple patch was roughly in line with the three previous seasons, suggesting that other things
were going on in his life*, or he was carrying an injury, or being played out of position.

* for example, he lost a child, aged 2 days, then his wife gave birth again, a year later. That must have been a very
tough year for the family. Surprisingly, footballers have lives outside the game

He only played a little over half (388) the minutes for the first 7 games 630+ minutes... no goals

but in his next two full 90s, he got 2 goals and an assist and in the following two, two goals plus an assist. In his next two full 90s, another goal, another assist

He only played 413 minutes of the last 14 games (1,260 minutes)

I note that their second son was born December 14th 2012

Provided he has no serious injury issues, I'd say he was a lot better than good Championship striker.

Provided he has no serious injury issues I'd expect him to get 20-25 goals in this RFC side

Doncaster Rovers supremo John Ryan is making a £850,000 bid to bring home Billy Sharp from Southampton. Hardly any major CShip clubs looking at Sharp. Meanwhile Wigan have signed 7 players with Grant Holt from Norwich being the latest. They're showing ambition to get back to Premier League. RFC only signed 3 new players. Get it sorted Squeakyyyyyyyyy

He isn't going back to Doncaster. Plus Forest and Reading are in for him, and rumoured interest from Leicester and Derby. It's not surprising you're not happy with three quality signings at this stage; it only goes to prove how much a pleb you really are.

He'll be a Reading player by the end of the week.

It is true that Wigan are going for it but they have a much bigger rebuilding job on their hands than we do. Think Reading and Wigan should be the top two next season based on squad quality* - unusual for two teams to go straight back up but it has happened before (Newcastle and West Brom if I recall rightly).

* QPR also have a very good squad but I am not sure even Harry Houdini can turn round that sinking ship in one season.

It's also much more important to Wigan to go straight back up because of their level of support. It would be much easier for them to sink back down into League One or even Two and get stuck there than it probably would for us because of our bigger fanbase.

If Wigan don't splash the cash and get back into the big bucks they could potentially sink like a stone in a couple of years.

P.S. Wigan's signings are hardly 'going for it'

I know it gets said EVERY summer, but fcuk me it looks like the toughest Championship yet next season! There are 5 or 6 clubs who you could fancy for auto-promotion, and a good 14 sides that will be strong contenders for the play-offs. This time around through it's the quality of a lot of the players joining these clubs. Let's hope we don't get over-confident, because heart and soul is going to be very important!

Snowball Last Four Seasons

39 10 Goals - 8 Assists 274 Mins/Goal 2,740 Minutes Forest
35 19 Goals - 5 Assists 136 Mins/Goal 2,585 Minutes Doncaster & Southampton*
29 15 Goals - 6 Assists 159 Mins/Goal 2,386 Minutes Doncaster
33 15 Goals - 8 Assists 191 Mins/Goal 2,860 Minutes Sheffield United

So he's better than McAnuff, then?

Anyway, I think playing Sharp upfront wouldn't be as bad as some are saying. This is the Championship after all.

Lol...

We signed a load of players last year as a stop gap and it didn't work, I'm not worried about Wigan. The only thing their manager's got on his CV is a lucky playoff promotion when we threw promotion away and a relegation and sacking. We don't need to sign 7 players - realistically where would people strengthen this squad apart from a striker and perhaps another full back?

With the wages we're paying, and contracts we are improving, you wont see us spend the £4-5m we need to get the likes of Austin or Hooper, and both want Premiership football anyway! You need to get real. Sharp is a top Championship striker who Adkins knows inside out! He will be a decent addition and at a bargain price too.

Can't help thinking he will go to Forest.

I would prefer Connor Wickham to be honest.

Just slightly concerned that if we don't sign a proven Championship striker and the Pog leaves, we will be left short in the experienced striker department.

Saying that I really can't see the powers that be letting that happen.
