Snowball
LoyalRoyalFan
Snowball At his other clubs, was ALF paired with a big bruising centre-forward partner?

I'd love to see him play alongside one, the classic "Smash & Grab"

Toshack & Keegan
Warboys & Bannister?

:|

What the actual oxf*rd are you on about?

It used to be a classic combo of one big forward who battered the opposition
combined with the much smaller, quick-fire poacher who lived of knock-downs

I'm pretty sure that was what Pogrebnyak and Le Fondre did for large parts of last season...

Everyone assumes that because he's a big b*stard that Pog's used as a battering ram, when he is in fact as much a poacher as Le Fondre. I like the guy, but he doesn't have much strength...not that i'd tell him that to his face.

I suspect it is a strong disagreement. Pog is built like a brick outhouse and has excellent strength on the ball. It was his constant beating up of opposition CBs last season that gave us many of the few opportunities we had. He needs the ball to feet, and then has the power to hold it. So I think it is fair to say that I also disagree.

Ok, but it's not the way i remember it. Spent a lot of time on his arse shoved off the ball, and never managed to muscle enough space to bring down a high ball. Fantastic touch, and expertly accurate shots (for the most part) but strong is not how i would describe him. Heavy would be more appropriate.

He's very strong on the ball. He consciously tries to buy freekicks by collapsing pathetically when pressured from behind (whoop) by a centreback if the ball is hit to him at around chest / head height. That's nothing to do with his strength and all to do with him being a fukwit.

I'm surprised everyone sees it this way, but i'm outnumbered so that's that. Interested in a new perspective if he stays put.

I'm with you. For a big guy he was awful and taking a first touch and holding up the ball, and he got jumped all over all the time. He was a pleasure to mark most of the time.

That's not strength necessarily though.

No doubt his inability to leap more than an inch off the floor has something to do with it, but i really do feel that he should be able to stand his ground a bit better for such a big guy.

Judging by Nige's very positive remarks about ALF yesterday, it doesn't sound as though he intends to let him go anywhere. Very much sounds as though he is included in a big way for this seasons' plans.

If he remains a Reading player, I will take that bet.

Loser pays £20 to say Help4Heroes.

Nothing wrong with 20 goals, especially if Drenthe and HRK chip in with 10 each.

As long as some of the others chip in with a few then agreed.

ALF is a player we MUST keep hold of. He is a natural goalscorer and they do not come cheap. Having scored a lot of PL goals last season in only a few sub appearances that should automatically put him in the £4m bracket. He looks sharp and anything less than that we should tell potential buyers to bugger off!

I would be pretty happy to let him go, to pretty much anyone really.
