Looks like he is most definitely on his way out after all, with Sevilla apparently interested again. Can't see why anyone would want him with his injury/fitness problems but Carrico has even been quoted saying "I will not be staying at Reading."

So, a Portuguese reading fan I know met Daniel Carrico yesterday and had a chat with him.

Apparently he told him that he is off if Reading get relegated. He also said that Brian was not his biggest fan, hence why he did not play.

Truth be told you are all basing your opinions (positive and negative) on a couple of cameos,and a half against West Brom. That is nowhere near enough time to be able to judge if someone is any good or not, and certainly not enough time for Carrico to get used to playing in the Premier League. I really hope anyone who signs for this club has a fantastic debut and first few games, cos judging by some of the comments on here, they can kiss goodbye to a positive reaction from some fans if they don't (hope you are reading this Danny Williams!!!). Sevilla wanted Carrico before we signed him, and it looks like now they will get him. I have no firm opinion of whether he was any good or not, or whether he was ever going to be suited to the Premier League (or Championship) or not, but I am disappointed that he is off. Not because he is foreign, not because I think he is better than sliced bread, but because he never really got a chance, and as such any balanced fans will know that we never actually got to see whether he was any good or not. The only thing we can presume was the Sevilla think he is good enough for them, and if a mid table La Liga team think he is good enough then who am I to argue? And if he consistently plays for them, and plays well against the likes of Real, Barca, Athletico and Valencia, it won't answer whether he would have been up for a Tuesday night trip to the Keepmoat but it may answer the question of whether he was any good or not. Not to mention the fact that it will probably start another argument of a) why did we let him go and b) why for only £600k.

There's a reason he didn't get the games. Why is it people seem to think all players should get 5-10 matches before a manager can decide if they're good enough, or more importantly, fit enough?

2-3 starts would be sufficient to be able to judge him. Find it hard to believe fitness was a real issue after he had a few weeks training. We should be building our team around players of his quality.

Well, it was clearly an issue and was easy to see when he did make it on the pitch.

He doesn't want to play in the Championship and he's playing the unsettled card. The club have made it clear they'd like to keep him. The player wants the move!

Personally I'm also basing my view now, as I did to a certain extent at the time we signed him, on the fact he'd hardly played for Sporting and subsequently hasn't really been involved with us under two managers.

Whether it's fitness, application or ability (the latter unlikely considering his previous achievements and the interest shown in him) there is something that's stopped him getting out on the pitch.

I'm guessing that Seville think they can solve whatever those issues are and get more out of him. Football is littered with examples of players that managers or clubs think they can get more out of than previous managers/clubs and so take a punt on signing them, it doesn't mean he's good enough or not either not. All we do know is that as a signing for Reading it was a complete failure.

....build a team around players of his quality? Where have you seen this quality apart from a view clips on YouTube from years ago? He can't be that good if Bm preferred ledge or akpan over him?
