I know he looks extremely good in training so the reason he is leaving may be non football related

Ian Royal
LoyalRoyal22 So we are going to let him go before we give him some games to prove himself. We will regret it when he shows his class in La Liga.

There's a reason he didn't get the games. Why is it people seem to think all players should get 5-10 matches before a manager can decide if they're good enough, or more importantly, fit enough?

He was obviously fit enough to pass a medical.

Despite what the club are saying about his professionalism (when you are trying to sell a product you don't tend to highlight the flaws), this guy's attitude stinks. For whatever reason(s) he failed to deliver when McDermott signed him last season (no doubt one of the many factors contributing to McDermott's dismissal) and then the moment we are relegated he is looking for an escape route! Has he done anything to in return for the handsome signing on fee and wages he has received?

He may be a good player and will probably show what we are missing out on when he is where he wants to be and starts to deliver, but I don't think we can really blame the club for wanting to get shot of him, given how he has 'performed' and spoken in the time he has been with us.

Don't think he was fit enough when he arrived and also think he found the change too much esp. as he wasn't fit enough to play. I mean Portugal in winter is still a long way ahead of the miserable weather in this country at that time of year (and for the most of the year come to that).

He may well be able to adapt given time but we don't have time to wait about so let him move if he wants.

Going from here to Portugal the hotter weather could be an excuse for apparent lack of fitness. Not sure about going the other way though !

(edit: re-reading your post - maybe that's not what you meant ...)

I don't think a medical is specifically a measure of fitness, although that's probably part of it. And I suspect a medical tends to involve judgement calls rather than just being totally objective. Clearly the signing was a massive waste of everyone's time. Sometimes shit happens.

Director of Football Nick Hammond has given an update on midfielder Daniel Carrico, who has been the subject of interest from other clubs.

Carrico arrived in January and made three appearances in the Barclays Premier League.

Nick said, “I feel for him, he came in January and following both his contractual situation and an injury he wasn't up to speed at first. But he's been a great professional, he works hard and he's a good player.

“There is some interest but we'll see how it progresses, there are no done deals. It's been tough for him, he's become frustrated with the situation but I want to re-iterate he's a good man, works every day and the level of club interested tells you what a good player he is.

“Is there a done deal? No. Is there likely to be? Possibly.”

Fitness and talent aside, maybe he's just a plain old bell-end who doesn't 'fit in'.

Just a thought.

Sounds a bit like someone trying to sell a dodgy motor through Autotrader! "Despite what you might have seen and think, it's a really good, reliable car and I've had lots of other people interested in it."

To those claiming he's a gem add those implying he is 'a total bell-end' or that his 'attitude stinks'.

There is little evidence of either, he's a talented player who through injury/relocation/loss of form hasn't worked out for Reading. Big deal.

Or cut price due to his falling out with Sporting.
He must of been fit enough to pass his medical (we've pulled the plug on others due to medicals), all he needed was match fitness and there was only one way he was going to get that.

We quite obviously called it wrong on the medical and his issues were more serious than we thought. It was totally obvious he wasn't fit enough whenever he played.

So the medical staff were incompetent?

:| Getting something wrong doesn't automatically make someone incompetent. Do you have to put much effort into being this dense and contrary, or does it come naturally?

He's completed his move, according to Charles Watts.
