winchester_royal ^Footnote: This 'fuck up' doesn't even come close to that of releasing Charlie Austin at 16 because he was too 'small'. Was Anton involved in that decision as well?

Charlie must of had one hell of growth spurt.

Anton foresaw future knee problems and got rid.

For Hammond (and I am a fan of him) say this 'a bit of a shock' and a complete surprise' as it says in todays (12 July) Get Reading is, well, a bit of a shock. Academy players chances of getting in the first team are slimmer than Posh Spices legs in a pair of skinny jeans after a tough diet and fasting 48 for a blood test. Ickpeazu scored 28 goals last year, the top in the Academy which we all know by now, and I know he could still be sweeping roads in five years time; but I think we have lost a good one here. Good luck to u Uche - we will be keeping an eye on you.

Personally I question the decision Uche made. Leaving a newly awarded Cat 1 club that has shown intent to bring through youth to join a club that has massively scaled back its academy operation and is relying mostly on foreign imports seems like an odd move.

From Reading to Watford, backwards move.

winchester_royal Indeed, and tbf to the guy not many U16's make the bench for youth cup games, but I think it's pretty clear that it was an academy signing.

Depends, pretty sure Chelsea started something like 3 u16s with an u15 on the bench for the youth cup final. Some clubs seem to fast-track their players through the age groups more than we do.

Yay! Great news!! Oh, the moaners not long ago claiming no money was being spent behind the scenes to make this possible look a little bit silly now. :D

Sounds like we might just have pinched Hugo Logan off of MK Dons now too. Another one claimed to be an exciting prospect.

He sounds promising, but he's far from the finished article and I'm sure he'll be the first to admit that.

I presume he didn't join us expecting to walk into the 1st team.

Might be a bit disappointed - even if you took our recent signings Deeney and Forestieri will probably be first choice with Acuna on the bench.
