Looks like Drenthe is now through the middle with Taylor out wide.

EDIT: As soon as I type that, Drenthe ends up back wide right. fml

Notice he didn't celebrate. Guess he knows he's off.

No penetration, but what can you expect from pre-season?

ZacNaloen Do think there is an element of experimentation in this shape

If the experiment was combining the worst aspects of a direct McDermott esque style with a tippy tappy Rodgers esque style, it's not far off. Only a friendly though, they're a decent looking side and it's about fitness more than anything.

drenthe looked pretty dangerous for the time i saw him playing, he beat his man almost every time, and put in a decent cross.

alfie is still class and i can see him getting 20+ this season!

Think you're being rather harsh there IR, kept a very decent side at arm's length for the majority of the game and created a few good chances of our own. Not close to being perfect, but plenty of encouragement from the new boys and Obita.

It'll called the McDermott, where you play with no midfield.

Was impressed with Obita and Taylor against decent opposition. Drenthe is fast - but I wanted (hoped) to see more of him moving inside vs. cross - seemed he wanted to do the same...
