Sanguine Downing and particularly Henderson had decent campaigns last season.

So why are Liverpool going to sell at a £15m loss?!

Downing perhaps wants a return to the north east?

I don't know that they are. You said Newcastle were going to bid for him.

Ultimately they over-paid for him and will never recoup £20m, or probably even half that. It happens sometimes player values decline.

Libertine
URZZZZZ
Libertine Clint Dempsey leaving Tottenham to return to the MLS (Seattle Sounders rumor has it). :? :?

Has been confirmed, surely another prem club would have had him

From what I understand "the Sounders moved heaven and earth to get him". There were PL clubs after him, sounds like MLS and the Sounders (who average 40,000 per game) wanted him more. Major coup for MLS and the Sounders. He goes from making the move from Fulham to Tottenham because he wanted to play in Europe to playing in the US Pacific Northwest. But he will be a "legend" and "superstar" with his new club as opposed to just another above average player in the PL. So maybe part of the reason for the move was just about his ego...

According to this, he's on a bigger wage than Beckham was:

http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/2013/08/05/report-how-dempseys-move-come-together-new-details-on-deuces-seattle-deal/?

$o it$ really hard to figure out why he $igned for the $eattle $ounder$...

Quite the opposite, for me.

Transfer fees obviously have to come into it, but I'd really like to see clubs take a hard line with players who have recently signed lucrative and long-term contracts.

Who knows what is being discussed behind the scenes at Anfield, but the public approach at least - he stays unless they receive a £50m+ bid for him, is the right one. He has three years on his contract to run.

And I just don't see him joining Arsenal. Liverpool think the contract clause is watertight. I think he'll go to Madrid in the week before the window closes.

Bale >>>>> Rooney > Suarez for me. Rooney & Suarez both don't have great attitudes but at least Rooney isn't likely to pick up 10 match bans!

Depends which team you're talking about

For Arsenal i reckon Rooney would bw superb
For Utd then Bale would be superb
For Chelsea or City then Suarez

At the moment:
Suarez = Bale = Rooney
(maybe a bit generous to Rooney)

But £100m Bale is on the way up, £40,000,001 Suarez is peaking and £25m Rooney is on the way down.

McClean to Wigan, another good signing for them.

 You'd have thought another Premier side would have got him...

I can see Wigan winning this league if they keep the M-players
