Best I can do with split rail fares for this one is:

Reading to Banbury return £11.70
Banbury to Stafford return £40.50 (actually advance purchse singles)
Stafford to Stockport return £17.00
Stockport to Horwich Parkway return £4.10

Total £73.30p. Only saves £8 compared with the through ticket price of £81.30 (adult fare).

On one tank? It's about 3hrs 45mins each way isn't it? That should be a tank and a quarter I reckon. Unless you sit at 60 there and back and hope you don't have to change gear very often...

Google maps reckons around 3hr15, 199 miles e/w from my front door. Depends on traffic and whether I get bored and just decide to floor it, but the car is capable if helped along

is anyone driving to this and has a spare place in the car? Or alternatively do 3 people want a lift and to share petrol?

You look surprised, urz13. We'll take 750 tops. Normal away service north of the border is resumed for this level.

yeah, pretty standard fayre for a holiday season trip oop north. Also I suspect that, if having to choose between this and Blackpool, majority would have chosen the latter with it being Bank Holiday weekend and the skillz that involves.

If this was against Barnsley, I'd agree. But I would have expected a game against a side also tipped for automatic promotion to generate enough interest for us to take around 1000

Bolton haven't also been tipped for automatic promotion by anyone I've seen?

Add to that it's the least attractive of 4 away games in August

Only reason I'm going is to tick off another ground I've not yet visited

Predicted 500-600 fans so not surprised, but disappointed, would like to think we could take around 1000 to a game like this.
