Sweet FAWycombe Royal The only reason McCarthy was in ahead of Ruddy last time was because Ruddy was injured.
This. If being part of a Premier League club was the only reason for Ruddy's selection then why was McCarthy, a newly-relegated goalkeeper, selected vs. Ireland/Brazil?

You reckon? I think it is a very decent pick (for a change) by Hodgson. I guess it is hardly a selection for the long term given his age, but given his strength and how well he holds up the ball and his ability with set pieces.....it is a very good selection and long overdue I say. 15 Premier League goals last season, how many englishman can say that?

AirRaidSiren I suppose we don't have much to choose from in that position.

What you mean like Rooney, Sturridge, Walcott, Welbeck, Defoe, Zaha and Carroll(before you laugh he had a solid enough season at West Ham)?
I think Lambert is a good call up! love to see him there! he deserves his chance! Internationally is the only stage he is yet to score at in England!
Although I would have thought Sturridge did enough to warrant a call up!

Not allowed to be anywhere near the England squad if you're not playing in the PL.
Roy Hodgson on SSN: "Rickie Lambert helped Southampton win the Championship title"
WHAT?? Doesn't bode well our England manager is oxf*rd clueless about football!

Roy Hodgson on SSN ...he's only a League 1 player, can he play in the Championship? and he helped Southampton win it...
by AirRaidSiren » 08 Aug 2013 20:41
NewCorkSeth Walcott - 21 goals
Defoe - 15 goals
Rooney - 16 goals
Lambert - 15 goals
Carroll - 7 goals
Sturridge - 11 goals
Zaha - 8 goals
Thats up there in terms of goals for strikers for national teams! Nothing to complain about.. yet..

No Fixed Abode So, Reading's academy is cat 1 status, yet they have no players in the England U21's or first team squad.
