Yes, weird language. Don't want to know what's up in british schools when they talk about Immanuel Kant.
Are there already some news about Akpala? Did someone e.g. see him in training, or are they without public?

He got no nickname, he didn't have enough appearance for that. Progrebnyak is the "Struggle pig"? Haha, great, i guess it derives from "Kampfschwein".

Can't believe you have a new coach now at Werder, Thomas Schaaf has been there for years - Longer than Otto Rehhagel?

Nearly the same time, for 14 years, but Schaaf was at Werder since 1972. Yes, it's hard to believe and everyone was struggling with himself in this matter, because he's a true legend, great and reasonable guy, but on the other hand he, let's say, obviously missed some developments which made many other teams doubling us. Strange days at Werder. Many years of Champions League and then three years of struggles to stay in Bundesliga. Was a hard clash which strained the nerves of many supporters. Last semi-season was the worst in whole club-history, so they decided to go on with a new coach. Important was that his alter ego, Klaus Allofs, dismissed the club for wasting VWs-money at Wolfsburg half a year before. Last weekend we said goodbye to Thomas with biggest choreographie in club's history (from 2:33 on): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stj1xcTvS2k

michael78 Hello, I'm supporter of Werder Bremen and was curious to see if there are some news about Akpala. Well, first I'd like to correct some impressions you had by the translations, oh, and excuse my poor english. I'll do my best. Anyway: "Eben" doesn't mean "ebony", just "exactly" and "abschießen" is an expression for cancelling with someone against his will, not killing in this meaning.
If you like to get some news in a board, I'd recommend the inofficial board worum.org. It was founded after Werder asked for registration with full name and address on the official board, which made a big crowd found a new one. The community is rather mature and reasonable than on official board, and anyone of you is heartly welcome to register. There's an english international section and, of course, the Akpala-Thread, which you may find under "Mannschaft".

Well, some words to Akpala himself. First: We play for three years and especially the last half year nothing but shit and weren't able to create many moments of danger. He usually came very late, when the team had the heads already down and in a lack of self-confidence. He's physically strong, fast, but often showed a lack of technical skills. He was also a super great and fair character who didn't complain about his role being substitute. It didn't work out with him, but it's hard to tell exactly why. We made a big break after 14 years being coached by Thomas Schaaf and managed by Klaus Allofs with new coach and manager and refresh the team now, as far as possible. Since he got, what rumors say, a relatively big contract, the new management prefers to get him of the payroll. They also want to support younger newcomer like Füllkrug and Yildirim which means that there's no realistic perspective for him at Werder. Many of us really hope that he' convince at Reading and kick some asses, since he's really really a good guy.

So far then. Thanks in advance for hospitality here.

Hello and thank you for the information

is he suitable to play as a lone striker?

I'd rather see him as a lone striker than in a position where he has to play a lot and work also in the midfield, which would be more demanding. He got the skills to get his body between ball and defender, so I'd say yes. What kind of system does the Reading FC play?
