Newbury 1-4 Windsor - you say attendance reported as 80? :shock: :lol: Way more than that.

..most probably an Hellenic thing to 'undercount' crowds - doubt if there's anything too sinister in it, though I believe gate receipts are possibly an issue for the HMRC - and are supposedly 'shared' in Cup Competitions? 8)

.. and may just be a seasonal 'blip' but the wheels look wobblier by the minute on the Guernsey bandwagon - walloped 0-4 at Fettes Lane by my 'other' old home team 'Ramsgit' :D
- crowd declared as 1017 - comfortably the highest across the Ryman League this PM.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
...and a correction for one of the above FA Cup scores - was reported widely that Sevenoaks W3-0 v Horley from the CCL - official FA site and BBC site had this too - actually was 0-3 at H/T ... to Horley but they were the away side ..AT HOME if you see what I mean hence the confusion/misreporting. Horley eventually won 4-1.
The FA site has been known to post up incorrect results for its competitions from time to time! :evil:
Early days yet, but it could be an indication that GFC have found their level. Footes Lane, BTW.
4-0 down at HT as well. 6 shots on target, 4 goals. Clinical stuff from Ramsgate.
Royal Rother Conference postpones Farnborough's 1st 2 games of the season.
Poxy jobsworth tossers.
:|
Seems fair enough really. Set a deadline, failed to meet it. The Conference are trying to run a halfway credible competition. Can't really see how this 'Paddy Power Project' is in any way credible; makes a mockery of the club and the competition. Paddy Power are big enough to put their money where their mouths are if they are in any way serious about anything other than using the club as a crass advertising campaign. Who would be anything other than unsurprised to see them pull the plug halfway through the season when their crass stunt doesn't quite deliver what they want :roll:
... goodness only knows where I got that from - :oops: - its the name for the Ryman Youth competition - must've subliminally 'misfiled' it when checking out recent results/fixtures around the Isthmian!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
... went to another FA Cup game yesterday (Sunday) in leafy Surrey - under the nose of Box Hill saw: Dorking Wanderers 5-0 Canterbury City.

Saw plenty of other hoppers milling about too - crowd est 180 odd - also due to 'phantom' pedestrians on the M25 nr Chertsey we arr. just before KO - long after all the Progs had been snapped up! :|

Probably pop out to watch Cup Replays: Binfield v Flackwell tonight & Hartley W v Kidlington tomorrow KO 19:30. Plenty of other NL games on to choose from round here though.

I do a pretty good impression of the agonized figure in Edvard Munch's 'The Scream' if I turn up to a game and the programmes have sold out. I'd deduct clubs points for not printing enough programmes tbh :!:

Hoping to attend Maidenhead vs The Farnborough F*ckups on Saturday, if that doesn't go ahead then I'm already excited about the Bank Holiday Monday all ticket affair between North Leigh and Didcot Town at Eynsham Park. I'll probably turn up at 6am for that one to ensure that I get a programme.

I'd get rid of them myself. Time intensive and cost the club money in most cases! A simple teamsheet for the hardcore few' would do wouldn't it?

OK, I'll bite. Not when there is prize money involved. The quality at Step 5 astounds me. They go from the excellent in the way of Windsor, Epsom & Ewell and Guernsey to the utter jokes that are Croydon, Newbury and RPV.

... don't consider it the end of the world if I don't get one - and would not class myself as the 'Paper-Chaser' breed of hopper. - I've known some of the hardened-anoraks drive off in a hissy-fit, if they turn up to Dudsworth Acedemical Thirds and there's no weighty tome for them to plastic wrap and file in their cavernous a rucksacks. :?

... if the club have gone to the trouble of producing them - and it is a mandatory requirement from STEP06 upwards I believe - then I'll willing pay and not bother too much about quality either.

Did take one back to the gate at Romsey once, cos I was convinced I'd been given just a cover with no middle bit - turned out that WAS the prog!" :lol:

I quite like it as brief momento - and its always nice to have something to thumb through at H/T but generally have to file them away around the house so's the missus doesn't gripe about storage space - usually move them somewhere new in close season - so's she doesn't notice them for a while! :wink:
Trouble is - together with the RFC 'Booklets' that they flog now - which my mate generally buys for me - the hoard is getting a bit tricky to keep hiding.

Might get around to donating them all to a prog. shop eventually.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Got to Binfield 3-2 Flackwell Heath tonight in the Cup replay - attendance over 200 (official 210; I 'counted' a good 50 or so more than that dotted around the ground).
Lively encounter between, I thought, two pretty evenly matched and good quality outfits. 'Moles' were more clinical in front of goal and better at denying Heathens clear cut chances late, on as the visitors got the upper-hand 2nd half and pressed forwards.
Thunderous free-kick, eventually beat Weait to make it 3-2. He'd carried on very much as per Friday night, with a string of good catches and blocks. Flackwell's opener very early on was a pen for handball.
Rapley, Davies C. (pen) and Havermans had put daylight between the sides by H/T.
... as above probably off to Hartley W tomorrow night for another Cup replay but there are matches at Maidenhead, Basingstoke, RTFC, Abingdon Utd (Cup replay), Abingdon T ('lodgers' AFC Hinksey v Finch) Burnham, Fleet Bracknell, Didcot and Wantage to mention a few.
Only so many clubs get the prize money of course ( no idea if it'd cover costs!) and not knocking any of the quality bet it takes hours and hours and of course there is love involved but the world would carry on if they didn't exist! When at most clubs volunteers are at a premium it just seems a waste of willing help!
What takes time is the setting up of a template. After that it's a case of waiting for the emails to land and general updates to team line ups etc. Most clubs provide good content which also helps. Advertising helps cover the costs as well so I would say that most clubs would break even and more than likely make a small profit.
Love that I've provked a deb8 on programmes :lol:
My OCD with the infernal things - I don't even read the Reading ones which I *ALWAYS* buy :oops: - stems from when my middle brother was old enough (allegedly :roll: ) to be come with Dad and I to Elm Park. He'd insist it was his turn to have the programme, dad wasn't buying two.....he'd get it home and draw all over it :shock: :cry:
..news filtering through this week that Ascot Utd played an unregistered player in the last round of the FA Cup (4-2 win @ Tadley)
Previous transgressions of this nature usually result in expulsion - no matter how 'genuine' a mistake this may have been - so it could be a trip to Chalfont St P on the 31st August for a re-instated Tadley. Some matches already declared in next round on Fri/Sun over that w/e
Friday Night: Wantage Town v Diddy
Sunday PM: Sluff v Cirencester Town (@ Beaconsfield - meaning Bracknell will (probably) play their tie vs SYCOB on the Sat PM)
... more to follow.
.... Oh! .... and this w/e's preview is 'in production' :wink:
Midweek action:
FA Cup replays:
Hartley Wintney blew Kiddy away 5-2
- as planned - got to Memorial Ground - very good 2nd half performance - Kiddy were small and very fast; took a 2 goal lead early on but couldn't standup to the HW onslaught once the home side had caught their breath & worked out how to slow Kiddy up by denying them space around the area. Some exceedingly stupid behaviour by some fellahs who were well old enough to know better: - a couple of very gobby Kidlington fans were loudly berating the very young linesman (Asst Ref) - unbeknowns to them, lads' Dad was about 10yds down the touchline - wandered over and threatened all kinds of 'nasty' on them - no one came out of it with much credit: excepting the lino himself. He calmly ignored all this nonsense behind him and got on with his job (pretty well I thought too) - HW officials nearby weren't much of a calming influence either! :|
Ab Utd L 0-1 v Bedfont Sports
Whitchurch bowed out 0-2 v Hallen
... in local league games:
CONFSouth: Magpies and 'stoke both registered home wins
SOUTHPrem: Burnham lost H to Banbury 1-2 att:170
SOUTHERN ONE
(Central) Marlow D1-1 @ Chertsey; Slough got the same result at Uxbridge
(South&West) Fleet bt Nor Lye 2-1; Didcot lost 2-3 vs 'marine; On Wednesday Thatcham coasted to a 3-0 win at Guildford City
- I was there - City have lost their entire squad and manager close season as well as a major sponsor - most of them nipped off round the M25 to Chipstead. City very dischuffed at being re-located into the S&W section too (they claim approx 2000 additional miles travel involved :shock: ?) - possibly better placed candidates in the Central section - ie bit closer ot the M4 corridor? Thatcham also much changed - are benefitting from some shrewd loan acquisitions - picked up a terrific (for this level) young lad (Alex Charlick?) played central midfield but bombed forward and got two goals. Got him on loan from Basingstoke.
HELLPrem: not much change: though Wantage and RTFC pull clear of the pack with narrow home wins maintaining 100% record -'Nomads' now sandwiched between them on the same number of points but have played a game more, bt Holyport 5-1 on Wed.
- Bracknell held 3-3 in front of 107 - by a youthful Newbury.
CCLPrem: Windsor edged past Ash Utd 1-0 away and now head the table, with a game more played, over Epsom & Ewell - who were being thrashed in the Cup 1-6 by Whyteleafe.
Alton Town still struggling lost narrowly 2-3 @ Mole Valley.
...'s'enuff to be going on with.... 8)
PS RE Farnborough - If I've read it right - CONF League ruling = suspension pending until 'other criteria have been met' - therefore all 'boro's matches postponed for the next 2 weeks! :roll:
Particularly like the part that 'neither party will be making further comment' in the interim. Can imagine the Conference gave Farnborough a deserved dressing down for the arrogance of their expression of bewilderment at having their first fixture called off. Our league, our rules :!:
Four Of Clubs
116 Bracknell Town 2-1 Fairford Town - tough trip in next round to Beaconsfield SYCOB - may get switched to Fri/Sun, as Sluff are also drawn at home that day vs Cirencester Town? I'd rather expect SYCOB could pull rank on the 'Rebels' as landlords?
According to the Bracknell News the game is at Larges Lane.....
