I genuinely would like it if we sold him. He may be a decent player, certainly at this level, but I just can't warm to him. When I see Nolan playing for West Ham, it reminds me of Guthrie for Reading. I.e. A good player but a complete pcunt.

Would be happy with this. Aslong as we sign a forward aswell.

Lacoste

One more ball playing CM is essential in my opinion. If Guthrie, Williams or Karacan get injured we suddenly look short for the way NA wants to play.

Get this guy and a striker or two and we are suddenly a very strong team at this level. Competition for places in CM would be unbelievable.

He bossed the Championship the last time he played in it with Newcastle, and with Adkins clearly seeing him as a vital part of his plans there is no chance he is leaving, and with his performances recently he is certainly winning the fans over after last season, does need to stop being so impetuous though, could easily have been sent off on Saturday, and cost us 2 points with a stupid lunge for their penalty. Signs are very good though, and I don't think we need another midfielder on our books, least of all a 30+ midfielder.

Would be a good signing, you'd have guthrie and vaughan competing for one cm position and williams akpan and karacan for the other.

Like I said, he's a good player, just not the type of character I want playing for Reading, just my opinion.

What about with our new "diamond" formation in midfield - Karacan at the base then Guthrie and Vaughan in the middle with Williams at the top. Would look exciting to me and I know there is a lack of width but that's the downside of that formation unless your full backs bomb on.

Or if Guthrie decides he can't be a***d to get on the team coach for a long midweek trip north in the middle of Winter.

Whilst I agree with you to a point SB, I think most of his frustrations were with McDermott last year. That said, I thought his behaviour was unacceptable.

He seems to be a lot more happy this year though, with the way he's playing and with life generally. Although if he gets dropped, I wonder if he'll throw the toys out of the pram.

Was also refreshingly honest in his post-match after Watford, personally I like someone not towing the party line (up to a line, which he did cross last year).

What are you doing with Drenthe? Surely not benching him?

All I can say to that is - zero width. You can't rely on your full backs getting forward all the time as that would just leave 2 at the back getting very exposed (and they have zero pace).

The diamond needs two wide players in it, not 4 central midfielders.

This is why we failed against Watford IMO - they kept attacking our right flank (where Karacan was) and he didn't have the positional sense to be fully effective - kept drifting inside as he naturally would.

So you are disregarding 3 of our best players in Drenthe Mccleary and Robson-Kanu who are our main source for assists and goals ( Bar Strikers )

I agree, personally I love wingers and believe we have some of the best in the league. I couldn't go Saturday but have been read reports we played the diamond formation in the first half when we winning well just saying that if that's the way we may play home games going forward I would like to see the two middle players of the diamond to be more passing than physical. To add I would play Drenthe at the top of the diamond
