Reading: Nigel Adkins reveals club close to two new signings

Reading manager Nigel Adkins has confirmed that deals for two new players are close to being completed.
The Royals have so far brought in Royston Drenthe, Wayne Bridge and Danny Williams this summer.

“One or two are close to home, we want to strengthen the group and we still have a period of time to that”

Werder Bremen striker Joseph Akpala, 26, has been training with the club this week and Adkins confirmed the club continue to monitor the Nigerian.
"Before the window closes, we are endeavouring to bring a couple more in," Adkins told BBC Radio Berkshire.
Akpala has been told he can leave his German club and Adkins said: "He has come and trained which is important we've had a good look at him.
"We will do our due diligence, there is possibility we could keep him with us, there is a possibility that we don't."

Adkins dismissed rumours linking the Royals with Blackpool winger Tom Ince, whose father Paul is the Lancashire club's manager.
"He is going to leave Blackpool for a Premier League club," he added.

"But one or two are close to home, we want to strengthen the group and we still have a period of time to that."

Has this Akpala got a good scoring record as it looked shite for Werder.

Could have taken Ince this time last year for a reasonable shell out considering. Tried to ponce about again in January but obviously decided Blackman was a better bet. With where we are now it's definitely not happening.

I reckon Akpala is definitely one. If that's the case I would imagine Jerome is also a non starter as Akpala strikes me as a similar sort of player. Vaughan must be current favourite for the other option....

I know different styles contribute to being left out, but slightly concerning a struggling team clearly didn't rate him.

When was he scoring at Brugge ?

Could Nigel's 'Closer to home' comment mean someone more familiar to him though? Billy Sharp perhaps?

If we could combine a Spanish player's technical ability, with Sharp's finishing and Alastair Cook's mental strength then he would be Juan Sharp-Cookie.

Messi and Ronaldo! FFS, how many times - we need out and out centre forwards, we already have decent attacking midfielders/wingers!

How do you know its 50/50? Is the striker going to flip a coin to see if he will come?
