Four Of Clubs
116 Bracknell Town 2-1 Fairford Town - tough trip in next round to Beaconsfield SYCOB - may get switched to Fri/Sun, as Sluff are also drawn at home that day vs Cirencester Town? I'd rather expect SYCOB could pull rank on the 'Rebels' as landlords?

According to the Bracknell News the game is at Larges Lane.....

... hmmmm ... the FA's own site and indeed SYCOB's own site would suggest otherwise - will keep my eye on it?

Yep, KTFC playing down the round now, at what looks a pretty basic set-up (I'll find out how basic tomorrow). Still they got 789 there on Tuesday night when they got beaten 0-3 by Barton Rovers, so a good crowd expected tomorrow.

I must admit to a wry smile breaking out across my face regarding Guildford City. If I recall correctly, they were being funded by Kieron Gibbs as his brother, Jaydon, played there. Most if not all of their squad travelled from the Croydon area so to hear of them turning up at Chipstead does not surprise me.

I am hoping that the M25 behaves itself as I make the trek across the Colliers Wood. RL Challenge Cup Final at Wembley plus BH weekend? It's going to be a turgid journey :(

Barry the bird boggler Is rockingham road still a going concern as a football ground?

Good question - I thought that it was going to be turned into housing but I don't think anything has happened, so maybe they could eventually get back there now that Imran Ladaak is out of the picture. Got a lot of time for the long-suffering fans (after today of course), moving around to Irthlingborough, Corby etc.

...from a quick scan around the NLM Forum, anything movable and saleable has gone - believe Stourbridge got most of the seats from 'Rocky Rd' - future of 'Poppies' still in some doubt, as they still have a hefty rent bill outstanding to the Rushden & Diamonds 'concern' (believe they are named 'R&D 2008') following KTFC's stay at Nene Park.

Leighton Town 2-3 AFC Hayes
Uxbridge 2-1 Marlow
- A sad footnote regarding Woodford United: spectacularly ‘pointless’ in this division last season – they have finally kicked off their UCL campaign – for some reason starting in Division One – a drop of two divisions from Southern One.
- – they have opened with two home defeats 0-7 and 0-6 – so at least they are still ‘twitching’ though must be drifting close to ‘terminal’ now?

SOUTH1S&W
Bishops Cleeve 5-0 Godalming Town
Clevedon Town 1-1 Thatcham Town

Cobham 2-3 AFC Croydon Athletic
Dorking 1-3 Staines Lammas – ‘Chicks rock bottom and nil points – now shown on the Results/Fixtures site (Mitoo) as sitting just behind ‘Westfield’ who have 0 points from 0 played – surprising really as they are actually in the division above this season  and aren’t doing too bad in 6th?
Knaphill 4-1 Sheerwater – 'Knappers' also maintain100% and are 5 points clear of Lammas
South Kilburn 2-3 Sandhurst Townyoung Fizzers up to 6th
Spelthorne Sports 2-2 Eversley & California E&C tucked in 5th

Brimscombe & Thrupp 2-1 Bracknell Townreportedly Robins suffering badly from several key players being unavailable this PM
Cheltenham Saracens 0-6 Ardley United – slightly stunning scoreline as Sarries weren’t doing too bad – possibly tired after tough midweek replay (ET & pens)?
Flackwell Heath 1-1 Wootton Bassett Town
Kidlington 0-1 Wantage Town
Newbury 4-5 Shrivenham – thought Shrivvy were looking better up front than last season – evidently encountered a side that matched their defensive frailty?
Oxford City Nomads 0-5 Reading Townanother surprise here – maybe some Millard magic beginning to work at last

WESS1
Fleet Spurs 1-1 Pewsey Vale
Tadley Calleva 1-4 Stockbridge
Team Solent 3-2 Andover Town
League Cup: Andover New Street 2-3 East Cowes Victoria

... got to our planned first choice - western part of Brizzle for WEST Div One : Cribbs 2-0 Devizes Town - not a great game but Devizes came into the match with 100% record and left decidedly 2nd best. Nice enough ground with a 'new feel' to it - home club been through several name changes of late, to reflect the parlous state of the Insurance industry: were formerly known as Axa, Sun Life and more recently Friends Life - now just plain old 'Cribbs'.

... fair number of 'local' games scheduled for B/H Monday including a few AM KOs in the CCL and Surrey Elite - so the Anoraks' delight of a possible 'double' beckons  - will post them up later today (Sunday)

.... here's the matches scheduled 'locally' in NL for the Bank Holiday Monday: early KOs in RED

Fixtures 26th August BH
CONF
Aldershot Town v Woking -following their promotion to the FL (and subsequent relegation  ) I believe the Sh*ts have got a bit umpty about the occasional/neutral visitor. Their website's conditions (if up to date re ticket purchases) don't make it sound particularly as easy to 'move around' as it was of old. Is also apparently £19 pay on the day too - so may leave it a while myself before a revisit - or maybe wait for one of the County Level Cup Finals.
Welling United v Salisbury City
CONFS
Bishops Stortford v Bromley
Concord Rangers v Sutton United
Eastleigh v Havant & Waterlooville
Ebbsfleet United v Maidenhead United
Farnborough PP Bath City
Gosport Borough v Dorchester Town
Hayes & Yeading Utd v Eastbourne Borough
Staines Town v Boreham Wood
Tonbridge Angels v Chelmsford City
Weston-Super-Mare v Basingstoke Town
Whitehawk v Dover Athletic
CONFN
Oxford City v Brackley Town

SOUTHP
Banbury United v Hemel Hempstead Town
Chesham United v St Albans City
Hungerford Town v Burnham
SOUTH1C
AFC Hayes v Uxbridge
Aylesbury United v Aylesbury
13:00 Egham Town v Chertsey Town
Marlow v Ashford Town (Middx)
Potters Bar Town v Chalfont St Peter
Slough Town v Beaconsfield SYCOB
SOUTH1S&W
Godalming Town v Guildford City
North Leigh v Didcot Town
Thatcham Town v Fleet Town –NB level crossing closed nr Waterside Park – long diversions in place OR use the Station Car Park and walk over the footbridge?

CCLP all 11:30 KOs
Ash United v Cove
Bedfont Sports v Hanworth Villa
Chessington & Hook United v Frimley Green
Epsom & Ewell v Croydon
Farnham Town v Badshot Lea
Hartley Wintney v Alton Town
Horley Town v South Park
Mole Valley SCR v Westfield
Molesey v Wembley
Raynes Park Vale v Colliers Wood United
Windsor v Camberley Town
CCL1
Worcester Park v Farleigh Rovers

HELLP
Abingdon United v Oxford City Nomads
12:00 Ardley United v Abingdon Town
Bracknell Town v Ascot United
Cheltenham Saracens v Highmoor Ibis
Flackwell Heath v Binfield
Holyport v Reading Town
Shrivenham v Kidlington
Thame United v Newbury
Wantage Town v Highworth Town
Wootton Bassett Town v Brimscombe & Thrupp

... have worked out a bewildering myriad of possible combinations & travel times - which I'll probably confuse my youngest with tomorrow AM - hopefully he'll choose a decent pair of games without too much anguish and we'll get to two! Quite fancy the games involving both the Abingdon's as a) I'd expect to see goals and b) the 2nd one is 'one the way home' but there are also a couple of interesting looking Surrey Elite League games at 11:00 lower down the pyramid than these shown - meaning we even could nip home briefly before heading somewhere else.
Or we could go a bit 'richer' and do a double of Egham & Staines.

Double-header for me this weekend:

Brackley 0-0 Worcester - Conference North.

Team with two wins vs team with two defeats.....always was bound to result in as drab a goalless draw as you could wish to watch

Brackley are an ambitious club, just missed out on promotion to the Conference last season and a sign of their swift progress is that their ground is 3/4 Hellenic/United Counties standard and 1/4 Conference standard.

And just returned from the Oxon derby.....North Leigh 2-1 Didcot Town - Calor League Division 1 South & West.

Our own Alan Partridge tells me that Diddy have lost players this season and he expects them to struggle. You could see why these two sides between them have registered one win this season, North Leigh led at half time only to be pegged back midway through the second half. Didcot couldn't hold out for a deserved point, conceding as soft a winning goal as you ever could wish to see from the weak free-kick pictured below:

On this evidence, Diddy might be heading back to Hellenic League level some time soon.....

Windsor 3-2 Camberley. Excellent crowd of 277. Still undefeated this season but definitely not firing on all cylinders.

Players out with injuries, strapped up players coming back from injuries - it's a bit of a struggle, but the odd moment of quality is keeping the team in contention at the top.

FA Cup next Saturday - home to Highmoor IBIS.

Went to Bracknell v Ascot.

Could I, at the 10th time of asking, actually see a Bracknell win, with them doing well so far?

No chance. Lost 0-5, with all goals in the first half, with them being fortunate that Ascot coasted after the break.

That takes my Bracknell record to W0 D3 L7 F8 A43

Went this afternoon with the kids. He looked a level above the rest of the park, and scored a great header....

Rest of them were shit though.....

A rare drop down to Step 5 today for Holyport 0 Reading Town 1.

Town had 3 or 4 decent players that stood out in an uneventful game. If they can keep those players fit they should have a good season.

Holyport were absolute mince and spent the whole game bitching at the ref. The locals seemed to think it was a much improved performance, I can only dread to think how bad they've been in previous games!

... still not seen RTFC yet in a proper game this season - must try and make an effort - more than likely away from home if possible; as 'Stalag Scours' is such a depressing hole :| albeit closer to home for 'drinkiningeing' afters. :P
Did see Holyport a week or so back vs Bracknell and they were pretty much unrefined dump! Subsequent results would somewhat strengthen that view...... conceded a 4, a 5 and a 7, in quick succession. :?

Thatcham Town 0-0 Fleet Town

CCLP
Ash United 2-1 Cove
- We started here for our early KO – already pleasantly sunny – Cove are not a shadow of the side that pressed hard for the top four last season. Got in front and sort of faded away – Ash just about deserved all three points but both sides were pretty poor.
Bedfont Sports 0-1 Hanworth Villa
Chessington & Hook United 2-4 Frimley Green
Epsom & Ewell 2-0 Croydon
Farnham Town 1-0 Badshot Lea

Molesey 1-0 Wembley

Windsor 3-2 Camberley Town
CCL1
Worcester Park 1-2 Farleigh Rovers

HELLP
Abingdon United 0-2 Oxford City Nomads
– was at this one for our 2nd game: ‘The Yellows’ are still the only Hellenic Prem side without a point and never really looked like getting one once Nomads upped the pace. Lots of chavvy banter going on in the stand – only part of the ground not in full sun – and it got very warm late PM.
Ardley United 1-1 Abingdon Town - minor upset but good point for the Abbots here.
Bracknell Town 0-5 Ascot United ...Confirmation: 'Yellamen' officially hoofed out of the Cup - Tadley Calleva re-instated and get the £1.5k prize money for the previous round. FA did say that Ascot's mistake was a genuine one and that, as they reported the transgression themselves, no further action will be taken against the club by the FA. So a) they'll be free to enter next year and b) won't face any sanctions such as explusion from the Vase this season either?
Cheltenham Saracens 0-4 Highmoor Ibis ... hmm they seem to like their trips to the West Country so far? No league game for Shane S-K's lads this coming w/e - little matter of a Cup tie @ Stag Meadow - then they pop over to Holyport next midweek (unless there's a replay) before finally making their bow for 13-14 at Palmer Park on Sept 7th.
Flackwell Heath 1-1 Binfield
Holyport 0-1 Reading Town
Shrivenham 2-0 Kidlington
Thame United 3-1 Newbury
Wantage Town 3-1 Highworth Town
Wootton Bassett Town 2-1 Brimscombe & Thrupp
- Wantage lead the table from RTFC – both sides have a perfect record from 5 games but the ‘Freds have scored 5 goals more. The result when these two met in the Cup last week suggest the gap might well widen before long – but RTFC are evidently very strong defensively in the league; only conceded one so far. The sides meet again at Scours 1st week September.

Not many games now midweek following the B/H – which is the norm – a few in the Hellenic One – but mostly involving reserve sides – however FA Cup Preliminary Round Kicks off on this Friday evening (30th) with two tussles locally:

Badshot Lea v Hartley Wintney 19:30 KO (@ Ash Utd FC)

... and ....... 8)

Wantage Town v Didcot Town

- I might well make an effort to ‘escape’ to see how the ‘Railwaymen’ can cope with the ‘Freds on their own patch.

Meanwhile Guernsey's poor home run continues, with a third loss out of three, this time to Redhill. They are unbeaten away.
