LoyalRoyalFan 40,000?!

Surely no less funny than Reading planning to expand to 38,000.

15 years ago people laughed at Reading building a 25,000 seater stadium. We've surpassed our traditional rivals so can attract people from those places and surrounding areas whereas QPR are in a City full of clubs that are a lot bigger than them who they are unlikely to surpass any time soon.

Not quite. We don't have to build a new stadium to do that, just extend one we already have, which was designed with that at least partially in mind.

Also we averaged 99% of our capacity last year, to their 96%. And that's with about 5000 extra seats to sell. They did less well the season before. Obviously this is all paid for rather than turned up, it's pretty obvious a lot of season ticket holders didn't turn up to plenty of games last year from what I remember of the stadium.

We also averaged 2000 more than them the season they won the Championship and we finished 5th. They simply have a smaller fanbase than ours, a smaller catchment than ours and their competition for fans is far closer to their doorstep.

And we've got than fanbase off of (moderately) better recent success, but far less historical success as far as I'm aware. So I think if we can have a few successful PL seasons and maybe *gasp* win a trophy, we could potentially regularly break 30,000 at least whilst the success lasts.

We're not vastly bigger, but there is that small difference.

New stadiums with new facilities, better views, food outlets, concourses etc etc bring in more fans and new fans. QPR in a new stadium even at this level would easily match us or more likely beat our average attendances.

London sees a lot more tourists than Reading though. Many of these just want to go and see an English football match and they're far more likely to do so in West London than they are in Reading.

Fulham have had huge success in attracting a larger but very casual fanbase, it's not too much of a leap of faith to see QPR managing to do the same.

Meh. Still unimpressed.

There are at least three London clubs with better teams or Stadia and West Ham moving into the Olympic stadium would seem to be far more attractive to tourists than QPR. They haven't significantly grown as a club since the early 90's and don't seem to have a concrete plan to do so other than chuck money around at the team and hope it works out for them.

25- 30,000 would be far more realistic for QPR than 40,000 but as we've seen from their transfer dealings over the last few years realism isn't something they are able to do.

Time will tell. Larger stadia also increase the prospect of having lower priced tickets which will bring more people in.

Well you certainly can't argue with that cutting level of insight.

Royal Rother Good to see Tredder pop up after a whole 2 month absence. Brilliant effort.

Fake Hoops keeping a low profile, and rightly so. Fcking embarrassment

My hope is that this thread makes 50 pages, at this rate, should be a welcome xmas present.

Royal Rother
Who Moved The Goalposts?
Royal Rother Wonder how much of Park's £70k pw salary PSV will be covering.

And how much of Remy's £80k pw salary Newcastle will be covering.

I suspect nowhere near all of it. In fairness, QPR have offloaded more than I expected them to, but whether it's enough remains to be seen.

But they keep bringing more players in.

Good to see Tredder pop up after a whole 2 month absence. Brilliant effort.

Might be difficult put a team together with no players, H has done a great job offloading all the Kia and Hughes dross, a chairman that has had his fingers burnt but has openly learnt his lesson, all refreshing and all exciting stuff, as for the two months, is it possible RR, you don't always need to be accused of being a wrong 'un to take a break.

Was at Loftus Road last night and enjoyed watching them get thoroughly outplayed by Swindon, and deservedly crashed out 2-0. Despite what Saggy Harry says, there is still a poisonous atmosphere in the dressing room and it was clear to see the players have literally no understanding of each other. Quieter than the Mad Stad too, I might add.
