Pog for Cole what a waste of space.
Two wasters of the first order.

The names being mentioned are scraping a barrel.
I fear for the rest of the season if Cole is the best we can come up with.

He would still be a massive improvement on Blackman, and we need two strikers ideally, so I'd take him. I think it's clear we've invested most of our budget on wages; keeping the likes of Pearce and Robson-Kanu, and then bringing in big earners like Drenthe, Bridge and Williams. I don't think we should really be moaning about this. Get someone like Cole on a free and we look stronger straight away, and hopefully someone else with whatever we can afford, hopefully someone with a bit of pace about them up front.

Wasnt he touted for a move to Liverpool for around £20 million a few years back?

Won't be match fit and doesn't seem like a NA type of player.

Think he's just what we need tbh. Works hard, strong, holds the ball up, wins aerial battles, and scores goals at this level.

What's not to like?

if he was worth taking...clubs would be queueing up....waiting for the queue to form....

Cheryl Cole would get more bums on seats ...

Big Ern Call me Mr Fussy Pants, but I have a slight niggle about signing Carlton Cole, purely on the basis that he is poo.

Maybe a swap deal for Pog can be done. Pog on the dole we go for Cole

A swap when Cole is a free?

He does not score goals, or at least did not score many when West Ham were in this division

We don't need another target man. We need a quick (preferably young) ST to run the channels.

Nor did Roberts for us season 2011-12, 6 total.

The original statement made by winchester_royal is correct, we need a player that works hard, holds the ball up and wins headers but most importantly, goal assists, just like Roberts did for us last time round in the Championship.

Carlton Cole is far better than any of our current strikers and on a free this would be a relatively low risk move.

Lower risk than high wages and a decent sized fee required for his level of quality, if you compare what package would be required for Cameron Jerome for example.

Sign Cole and Ebanks-Blake both on frees and they could bag 15 goals each per season

True + would almost certainly mean Pog is leaving.
