TBM
No Fixed Abode Mourinho has stated Mata isn't for sale.

Thats what Utd said about Rooney - didn't stop Chelsea putting a bid in

Obviously you can put a bit in for any player you like. Doesn't mean they're for sale.

No but if the offer is good, say £30m, then him being "not for sale" could become "hmmm, too good to turn down"

Hamburg coach Thorsten Fink on why he's not signing Nicklas Bendtner:

First: he's too expensive. Second: I can't remember the last time he scored.

Whats the story behind Mata, player of the season, not being played by Mourinho?

Think you've answered your own question there really.

Mata and Hazard are the two best attacking mids in the Prem, and both should be automatic starters. That leaves one space for Willian, Schurrle, De Bruyne, van Ginkle, Moses, Oscar and now potentially Atsu.

Doesn't seem a problem for Barca who are inundated with good midfield options.

Busquets
Song
Xavi
Iniesta
Dos Santos
Roberto
Fabregas
Afellay
Tello
Pedro
A Sanchez

You've kind of murked yourself there by including not only attacking but defensive midfielders. And forwards.

And Alex Song.

So, if you're an attacking midfielder, you have no defensive responsibility? Silly me.

Not sure where you got that from.

The point was that those two lists of players were not really equivalent.

You wouldn't put Mata in a holding role just in front of the back 4

I think that's his point

Lamela joins Spuds. Cracking signing, although I have no idea who he is.

Bale's replacement

Bad times for Roma though. They've now sold their two top scorers in a week or so. (Osvaldo & Lamela)

Replaced Lamela with Ljalic almost immediately.

Spurs and Chelsea could probably field 11 v 11 made up solely of wide or attacking midfielders.

if the need is for two quality players for each spot that makes sense.
