REALITY CHECK!

by Dixeyroyal » 28 Aug 2013 11:00

Yes i am a new to this forum (tend to read it rather than comment) so happy to accept all of the "newbie" comments, but have been an RFC season ticket holder for 33 years and follow the team home and away.

I have read a number of comments regarding last nights performance and most of them seem to direct a lot of frustration and blame at Adkins..... WHY?

Picture the scene.... you walk into work one morning and your boss informs you that he is giving 11 of your senior colleagues the day off and placing you and 10 others in their place.
This is your chance to shine and prove that you deserve to be part of that elite group of 11 that everyone else looks up to.
This is your chance to persuade your boss that you deserve more than just a passing "hello" each morning, you want him to sit up and take notice of you.
This is your chance to make it very difficult for anyone to ever ignore you at work again because you have made such a positive impression.

So what do you do........ YOU F**K IT UP

Adkins gave every "fringe" player a chance to impress last night and every one of them let him down, including Le Fondre, yet everyone will still moan on Saturday if he does not start.

There are also people moaning about Adkins making no substitutions, again WHY?

Realising that the game was lost at half time my guess is that Adkins thought "you lot got yourself into this mess, lets see how you react to getting out of it", quite honestly i don't blame him.

The only thing that worries me about last night's result is that fact that the starting 11 are our back up for injuries!

OK so getting beat 6-0 by anyone is humiliating but it could also turn out to be the best thing that could have happened for 2 reasons:

1. A bit of a reality check..... we are not actually as good as people seem to think and we have no divine right to beat everyone because we used to be a Premiership side
2. It proves that Adkins has inherited a load of shit and it will take time to weed out the players that a) cant play his style of football b) don't actually care

 Nobody thinks we're any good m8

Dixeyroyal It proves that Adkins has inherited a load of shit

Yeah. What we need is a manager who can over-achieve and take a limited squad of players to win the Championship, any ideas :?:

Agreed. The lack of substitutions is a very interesting point. It's almost as if NA was trying to prove a point.

Or didn't want any of his "first-string" of players to suffer from the stigma of being associated with what was going on out there?

I wonder if that was a "Farewell, one last chance to wear a Reading shirt" game for many of them?

For Pogrebnyak I hope it was his goodbye to the club...

He signed off like he has done for the duration of his time here - being a load of rubbish.

After embarrasing himself in this way I honestly cant see him EVER playing top flight football again. He is after all 29 years old. Unless he pulls up his socks, turns round to Nigel and says "right, I'm determined to get back into the premier league and will do everything to do so" and completely turns round and does what he says at this club, his career is effectively over.

More the nature of the defeat that's the concern. The performance was abject.

Was winning the Championship just a dream? Shame, it was a really good one.

Tbh, that was how I saw it. No point throwing good players after bad (to coin a phrase)
