andrew1957 I bet Jordan Obita is wetting himself today at the possibility of both Kebe and McCleary going. He should get lots of game time this season if they do.

How did we do the last time he played?

Because a 6-0 defeat is the fault of one winger..

"We don't have to sell our best players"

Well that's a load of shit if we don't sign anybody for the same price to replace them

Not really. Just becasue we don't have to sell, doesn't mean that we won't sell

But if we sell you'd assume that we'd reinvest the money into signings. Else we do have to sell our best players because there is a black hole to fill.

How will the dream team of wingers come to fruition if we sell all our wingers?

One would certainly hope so, but this is Reading

I think that for most (all) teams chasing promotion there is a black hole, it's just how big that hole is.

The question is whether that black hole is financed by the chairman or player sales.

We'll know the answer by midnight.

a better performance from him and it might have been a much more respectable 6-1

Slightly irrelevant if he is the last man standing - I was making the point of how thin on the ground we would be. But he was one of the better players on that awful evening as it happens.

Sticking with their policy to buy anything in blue and white hoops, Palace have offered Cluedo junior edition, a bag of play-dough and an original Papa Smurf figurine for Nick Blackman.

Hammond has rejected the bid, stating that "no club in their right mind would want to offload their most valuable assets, if i had an original Papa Smurf i would be keeping hold of it"

It doesn't burn a hole in your bank balance. You don't have to spend it immediately.

And just because we're prepared to run at a loss, doesn't mean that we shouldn't offset that loss when players do force sales, or when we sell players who are surplas to requirements.

It's not like Kebe or Mariappa have been integral to our team this season, so far.

Reading FC Transfers @FootyNewsRFC
Right. Some big news, the scatter gun approach has worked. A bid for Luciano Becchio has been ACCEPTED #readingfc

edit:

Reading FC Transfers @FootyNewsRFC
Source says that he expects Becchio and Vaughan to be the men in. Trying for a CB though #readingfc

No, but it does leave us with 3/4 CB, 1/2 LB and one decent striker

Assuming we sign no one today, and no one in the loan window. Getting juuuuuust a little ahead of yourself there.

I'll be pretty miffed if we've managed to lose Kébé and sign Becchio in the space of a week.
Just can't see myself coming around to seeing the bright side of him, every one of that Leeds team from the 2011 game deserves a gruesome death by impalement IMO.

Any good news on deadline day?

by murof » 02 Sep 2013 13:07

Have to say I'm gutted that we have lost Jimmy Kebe and Mariappa. Kebe was by far our most creative and exciting talent, and Mariappa (and Kelly) seem to be the only defenders we have that know what they're supposed to be doing (why have they they never get the nod to play?).

Both last season and this season its been plain to see that we can't defend for shit, yes Morrison looks good, but he is way to slow to react to anything and situations just seem pass him by. Pearce hasn't got a clue what to do when he has the ball apart from hoof it towards the corner flag and Gunter just seems very naive though he is improving. Bridge seems the most solid of the bunch, just hope he doesn't get injured.

Why couldn't we have sold Gorks, Pearce and kanu instead of Kebe and Mariappa?

I thought we were financially stable enough whereby we didn't have to sell off any assets like we had to do in seasons past?
Lets hope we can keep hold of the best English goalkeeper in the world and get some decent signings in
