Of course he asked to leave. Nigel knows as we do that Mapps was our best CB. It was pretty obvious a move was on the cards really.
I agree with the previous poster. Fcuk the defence lets spend it all on a striker!

Not too fussed about this. He clearly thinks he deserves to be a Prem player. He'll be back in the Championship with 3 relegations from the Prem on his CV. Losing Kebe was a much bigger blow. Mapps was just another decent Championship defender who thought he was better than he actually was.
Both Kebe & Mapps have wanted to leave and in this business who can stop them...even Palace would be able to offer them more money than us and the chance to play in the Premier League...
Why should we be held to ransom by players demanding more than what they are actually worth...for all of Kebe's good performances, there were at least half a dozen pony ones and his tantrum last week was exactly the same scenario as when he forced his move here...and yes Mapps was our quickest CB, but he knew that and then sought a move back to the Premier League, as he knew the club wouldn't be able to meet his demands...I don't think he actually stood out last season as a quality CB anyway, he was just the best of the very average 4 that we had...

What would you rather then? Spend £1m here and there on some League One rejects as usual....
Hector will do a job when needed. It's not like Pearce or Morrison are particularly injury prone.

Well we won the title with him playing pretty much every week so it might give him a new lease of life. In all seriousness, I would be tempted to try Pearce with Gorkss again.

We did ok with Sonko as well, but I'm not suggesting we sign him.
