Anton To Face Fans Backlash?

by Divvy » 03 Sep 2013 12:56

Three transfer windows running we have talked up our ambition and not matched it with money.

The summer started well. Drenthe, Bridge and Williams are excellent signings and thank god two them were free and the other shy of £1m.

Then we did naff all for the rest of the window, claiming through Dim Tellor that we lost out on a couple of signings we thought we had nailed... hmm.

A small section of mindless idiots are blaming Adkins, but how it's his fault is beyond me. He lists who he wants, Hammond approaches Anton and is given x amount of peanuts to get those players. If you want to direct your anger at anyone then IMO you should direct it at Anton Zingarevich!

He his behind McDermott in April, claiming he didn't do enough in either of the previous transfer windows! How we should have spent more, been more active... Well you can't hide behind Adkins this time around, the finger is firmly pointed at the owner this time!

I doubt many would mind the business we've done if it wasn't for Anton talking us up all the time, automatic promotion being a must this season, how we want to be an established Premier League club.. yeah right mate, we all want that but you wont get that with a cat 1 academy and free transfers!

Get behind Adkins and back him 100%, but if you want to vent your anger, aim it at Anton!!

unless you have more money to spend than him and wish to take the club over, or know of someone who does, then shush.

Im not sure Adkins is blameless. He shouldn't have said he wanted 3 in. Makes the whole club look like a joke and makes everyone lose their tiny minds when they don't come off.

Fair post. Anton has put himself in the same situation as the last two windows and now doesn't have BM to hide behind.

This is exactly the same sort of inane, economically unaware, dribble spouted at SJM for so many years from idiots who have played too much Football Manager with Sky Sports News on in the background.

“Where have the TV millions gone?”

“I’ve been conned into buying a season ticket.”

“This is the worst Reading side of all time.”

“No ambition.”

Don't be so sure he didn't have an agenda there, making it known the squad he has isn't good enough for what the club wants/expects/dreams of (delete as applicable).

Not the most convincing of analogies there, melonheadz.

What's your take on this transfer window anyway? I remember you spent the last one seeming content that at least Readng had gone for some targets and it was ok that they didn't get any.

Tough home games coming up. If we continue to struggle then the fans are going to vent on someone, and I don't believe they're blaming the manager!

Just out of interest, what were the fans of teams like West Brom, Swansea, Norwich, Sunderland, Southampton, West Ham saying as they established themselves in the premier league while we arrogantly pissed about trying to do everything on the cheap as if the laws of football economics didn't apply to us?

Summer '12 Window: Seemed decent at the time, in hindsight was a bit poor.

Winter '13 Window: Seemed absolute shit at the time. Still absolute shit in hindsight.

Summer '13 Window: Based on calibre of player brought in: good, upgrade to very good if Sissokho and Biabiany come in on loan. But the window must still be considered a failure for one specific reason: Striker!

Similar shit I would imagine as football fans on the whole are complete cretins.

Yes, how dare the owner not give us more of his money to subsidise an even greater loss for the business!

Does he not realize the full impact of a minority of several thousand office workers grumbling in his general direction as he sits on his red, padded seat?

If not I fear he soon will.

Over all its meh to poor. Got three good players in, but failed totally to shift the right striker, and get a decent replacement.also lost our best defender and winger, though don't want either if they can't be arsed.

Compared to last time we came down though its probably quite good.

And I think its easy to see how and why we failed, and shirt of wishing our owner has more money than he actually does. The analogy is fine.
