Arsenal in advanced talks to sign Ozil for £40m, that'd be some signing!

£85 million for Bale seems a lot, but £100 million on the players Spurs have bought to replace him just seems mental.

Bale will be found out in Madrid. A good player yes, but not worth that much. Madrid are mad.

TBM lol @ paying that much for a player that was being boo'd by his own set of fans a few years back - with calls for him to be given a free transfer

Yeah, I was surprised Palace paid for him too...

Does the deal include the patent on his celebration?

the money spurs have spent has not been funded by the bale sale....levy has been very astute.

Emerging that the FA hae opened the door to Liverpool's new signing Tiago Ilori playing for England. He was born in London to a Portugese family, and soon returned home, has represented Portugal at youth levels. If he proves good enough, would you want him playing for England?

Well, quite. I just remember the teeth-gnashing on here from some when it was suggested the likes of Di Canio and Cudicini could play for England, albeit having 'qualified to do so' rather than been born here.

That man makes me so depressed I'd forgotten all about him.

Still, he had English parent(s), an English name, and had spent some years in the UK. Ilori was just born here, and is essentially Portugese.

I'd go for it, just interested how people would feel if the likes of Smalling/Jones/Kelly missed out on developing in the England side for the sake of Ilori.

At the risk of a whooosh, what's wrong with Hargreaves? Was a cracking player on the three days he had fit tbf.

True. He is in the England under-21s this week although that means squat.

Kaka returning to AC Milan was an interesting one. He seemed to be unstoppable at one point when he won the World Player of the Year in 2007 while playing for Milan and yet seemed to very quickly fade away thereafter.

Didn't live up to his billing at Real Madrid and you would wonder whether Gareth Bale can live up to the hype or if he gets weighed down by similar expectations. Kaka's best years are probably behind him but AC Milan might be hoping to get back what's left of his old self being as he's worshipped there.
