Just because we have only spent £700,000 on an 'actual' transfer fee to another club doesn't mean we haven't spent any money!

Players signed on free transfer are likely to be given a lump sum upfront and then there is the wages to consider...oh and it wouldn't surprise me if we will give the likes of Pog, Guthrie, Drenthe & Bridge some kind of final settlement amount when they reach the end of their contracts...how else would such a 'small' club attract such players...Could also explain why the Pog is in no rush to move anywhere soon!

I agree with most that our current squad simply isn't good enough, however I am glad we don't have 'arry managing us and driving around on deadline day getting players signing contracts through car windows etc...QPR still seem to have that same philosophy as last year...in fact it's the same old 'arry...buy up loads of players and hope it works...

Clearly, we need more players - clearly we have had money in from selling players, etc, and clearly AZ isn't prepared to put his hand in his pocket and buy the players we need. So why bother pretending that we were going to be a force to be reckoned with? That's the main problem.

It's not like going to Sainsbury's and doing your weekly shop though...the player has actually got to want to come to Reading...we can approach loads of players but if they don't like what we offer they won't come...added to the fact they have to pass the medicals, of which loads seem to be taking place recently!...I just feel that a lot of fans seem to think we should be looking at players way above the level we are at, just because the owner has cash and then when we don't get anyone it's seen as the owner not wanting to spend any money...when there is a lot more to it than that...

Valid points of course. However, the point remains, most other clubs seem to be able to successfully navigate their way through these difficulties (just look at the multitude of deals that went through with a whole host of clubs yesterday), whereas more often than not Hammond and co fail. Why?

Little wonder people suspect that the club lack the drive and commitment to match their grand words and succed in the transfer market.

AZ promised us '7 signings', and did not deliver.

I promised to buy a season ticket, and paid for it via Barclaycard. They have kindly assisted me in taking the funds back.

I suppose it works both ways!

I will probably have to pay for Ipswich and Watford for moral obligiations.

To be honest I was very disappointed with RFC's lack of activity in the transfer window-I was confident that on Sky Sports this AM that overnight we had done a quiet bit of business-nada/zilch/nothing.Can we have a full report from Hammond/Anton and Nige as to want went wrong-was it a question of wages, the clubs poor profile, value for money ? How long has Hammond been working on this-all summer. What went wrong and continues to go wrong ?

They are still trying to get everything on the cheap. Can someone tell Hammond it doesn't work on transfer deadlines.
