SPARTA The PR people at the club, one of which was brought in at the end of last season to provide positive spin where necessary, are doing a piss poor job quite frankly.

They sold season tickets - which in turn leads on to increased concession and merchandise sales

They did their job brilliantly

Indeed they did, by fooling fans into thinking we were going to match their ambitions on the pitch. Do you expect that record breaking 14000 season ticket holders (personal record for the football league) to renew next season when it's become abundantly clear the new owner continues to mislead fans? No, we will drop back to around 12,500, and the average attendances will in turn drop back to their norm of approximately 18,000 (15,500 home support).

Short-term gain, long-term loss.

Really?

Every season we lose some but gain new replacements

People will buy st next season based on what we do on the pitch this season. The fairly standard stuff about players and plans is only what every club comes up with and if they didn't then Hna would be just as apoplectic about the cliched 'lack of ambition'. Top 6 finish and only the hard core depressives will remember the odd quote from Az. Sign Sissoko and a striker in the next few days and it's all irrelevant anyway

Per Mertesacker phoned Ozil? That's tapping up of the most blatant kind.

Ah, but at what point does it become tapping up. If Mertesacker phones him last week and says 'Fancy coming to Arsenal, you'll like it here' then yeah, but not so clear if PM phones him Tuesday morning and says 'Hi, just thought I'd tell you a bit more about Arsenal as you are thinking over our bid........' but of course this is Mertesacker we are talking about so if he was on last season's form he probably phoned him yesterday morning.

What about Kevin Mirallas? He was with Lukaku in a hotel and apparently "would not let him leave" until he said he'd go to Everton.

Sounds a bit ghey to me.

Tbf - He couldn't agree a deal with Cardiff and they're splashing the cash way more than we ever did, and in the Premiership too.

I will be generous and say he is surveying his options (although I can't see him at Cardiff if Napoli was still a possibility). I guess there is nothing wrong in seeing who is interested and what they are offering, rather than taking the first one you are given. To be honest, given his history, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the terms of the contract rather than the remuneration which was the issue. If he is after a multi-year contract, and he is offered a one year or pay as you play, he may knock it back even if it is a better pay rate.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

"We're looking to bring in new players and strengthern the squad. We want to be stronger than last season and we're setting very ambitious targets."

Wah wah wah, stop raising expectations.

"."

Wah wah wah, tell us what you're doing, why won't you be transparent

"We're hoping to bring in a few new faces but nothing is certain. We'll run the club prudently and won't be pushing all out, putting the finances at risk to go for promotion"

Wah wah wah, no ambition, spend some money

Norfolk Royal I wouldn't personally go there as I'd be concerned that Vesuvius may erupt.

Vesuvius erupting is what Naples needs. Bloody awful place, horrible horrible. Ecceto per le pizze, sono deliciose
