So he's actually a long way off a return according to RFC.

What I like about that quote is the comments about Leigertwood. Most of us considered him as a major signing when we converted his loan to a permanent contract and he didn't let us down. Yes, he struggled in the premier league but that isn't a crime, many players can't overcome the great divide. He is everything you'd want in a championship level midfielder and I only hope he can return and deliver the level of performance that we've seen from him in the 2 years prior to the prem. The very best of luck to him !

Whilst I wont put the chap down, I can't help suspect they'll talk his return up as meaning we no longer need another CDM/CM (not that I agreed we needed another anyway, but trying to bring in Sissoko suggests someone at the club wanted one). I can see Pog's 'fresh start' being used as a justifiable reason for not needing another striker as well. Perhaps I'm just too suspicious..

I can't see where the guy fits in. He'll make ok backup, but if we're after another CM then he falls even further behind the others.

I'm not sure we are really 'after' another midfielder. Sissoko was one of those things that come along every so often, if we'd have done the deal we'd have had a very good player very cheap, but I don't think there is a Sissoko shaped hole in the squad. Legs gives us 5 good players competing for 2 or 3 places on the pitch and 1 or 2 on the bench, looks about right doesn't it ?

He will never make a full recovery, and he knows it. I wouldn't be surprised to see the club announce a pay-off just after the new year. Roberts knew full well what he was doing when he took the option to extend his deal by a final year. We all hear how influential he can be in the dressing room and how good he is to have around the place; well if that was so, wouldn't he travel with the squad to games and take some part even in a motivational capacity? Instead he stays back, tweets he's in the 'lab' and then he's off to do his media work. No problem with that at all, but if he is the influence we hear he is/was, then you'd expect him to be around the squad a lot more than he is. The guy barely even mentions the club any more. He might make a few appearances yet, but he'll never play 5 games of 60 minutes or more back-to-back. I doubt he'll even play 5 more games!

Is this based on knowledge or assumption ? Would just be interesting to know what you know.

Can't see why a pay off would be involved. If he can't play then he'll retire and claim on his insurance, if he let's his contract run down then he won't get a payout. No reason for us to advance him any money really.

It's been covered already earlier in the thread.

Nah, you are just reflecting the triumph of experience over hope.

He sounded like a player who knew he would never play again on BBCRB after the match. He defelcted all Dellor's questions and it did not sound promising. Kept saying "well I am 35 now". I will be suprised if we see him in a Reading shirt until perhaps a farewell apperance at the end of the season after we are out of contention for the play offs.

Got to agree .... all the noises coming from him and the club sound like he's heading that way.
