FoC, I have a feeling Finch can enter floodlight competitions as they're playing any home cup ties at Eversley & California - sure it was in the Evening Post over the summer.

Edit:

To save you looking up I searched the page - here you go;

http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football/amateur-football/finchampstead-fc-announce-eversley--4606170

I'm guessing their entry to the vase was rejected by the FA?

Got a vague recollection about this proposal (notice the article was posted back in June) - also think I read it came as a bit of a surprise to Eversley pre-season  but that the noises coming from that club seemed quite amicable toward the arrangement !

Could well be they sorted it out between them and the Hellenic league allowed Finch in to their F'lit Cup.

However probably just as well Finch went out last night and weren't let into the Vase this time; apparently Eversley & Calif. can't start using their lights until October at the earliest - and presumably only for daytime matches, once the clocks go forward.
- I think there's still a big local NIMBY objecting to the eyesore of lights - as if the gravel pit/reservoir itself and the great big Shed thingy next to the pitch, which is the indoor sports centre, - wasn't bad enough?

Eversley had to play their 'home' Hants Senior Cup First Round tie (vs Newport IoW on Tuesday) at Cody Sports & Social club down in Fleet.

PS Think Finch's final league position in the Hellenic East last season was possibly a reason they weren't allowed in the Vase: they missed the cut-off point for the FA Competitions this season, along with a quite a number of other local STEP06 clubs - can't be sure but I don't think there was room for any sub-STEP06 teams this time around either - eg AFC Wallingford have often been allowed in, in recent seasons.

...haven't done a full sweep of our 'local' leagues yet but only one definitely off, according to the NL Forum: in the lower Spartan South Mids nr MK.
My lad's BYDFL game is ON this AM @ Alfred Sutton - but it certainly threw it down a bit yesterday eve/night!
PS Doubt if he'll be able to perform that well this morning - the elastic's gone in his shorts!

Wantage surprisingly lost their 100% record last night at Alfredian Pk 0-3 v Oxford City Nomads - good result for RTFC. Reportedly the 'Freds' are rapidly running out of fit defenders - caught twice on the break late on.

Also Friday night: CONF National('Premier' I think they are calling it this season) -Aldersh!t W 2-0 @ Hereford ; Woking shared 4 goals with Tamworth.

Will have 'trawl about and check there aren't any others announced as OFF this AM.

UPDATE - not found any others declared OFF yet - the one I hinted at above looks like a team in trouble, rather than weather-related anyway?

- foiled in our attempt to get to watch the potential 'Trouble down at Bridgwater' - home side beat the Martyrs 2-1 this PM in the Cup.
M4 was completely ph£(&ed nr Bath/Brizzle - so @ about 14:30 decided to head N on M5, up to the southern fringes of 'Glawster'. We took in a 'new tick' @:
HELL1-West Tuffley Rovers 2-1 Clanfield
Not a great game; not a particularly distinguished ground - Glevum Park - a sort of work in progress, tucked away inside a dreary little Industrial Estate just off the A38. Few extremely annoying pre-teen 'chavettes' running up and down the front of the seats; trying to get a reaction out of anyone in earshot. Hilariously - appeared to get a real mouthful from a more senior version of themselves at H/T - presumably had howled something at her as they walked past.
At least the journey back was much quicker came back down the A417/A419.

Smudge makes 90% of HNA? posters appear reasoned and intelligent.

Yesterday was not good. Too much long ball, inability to get to grips in midfield and the back four not at all impressive. we stand off their players way too much and make it easy for the opposition to push forward. Had it not been for Carl Dennison in goal, we would have been soundly beaten and deservedly so. Whatever happened to the good football we played in the first 3 games of the season?

Maidenhead 1-3 Eastleigh

Unbeaten record goes despite taking the lead against full-timers whose superior fitness told after they were gifted a 2nd half lead. Unfortunately I have to report disgraceful scenes of 80s-throwback hooliganism from the notorious MMS at this game. When will these people learn :!:

Rother are you actually hoping Windsor go up? I'm sort of not in a weird way. Don't think the current set up in the league above will be a good fit yet. Would rather a more solid base was built. Walk before we can run etc.

Oh absolutely. I mean it won't matter all that much to me if we don't go up, but there has to be an aim / ambition in there somewhere for it to seem like a good idea to go out every freezing Saturday afternoon in winter and many Tuesday nights...

I am one of the loyal 40 or so who go home and away and my main "requirement" is to see a decent brand of football (at that level!) - as I've said on the CCL forum I am not impressed by what we're being served up right now. That 8 games last season when we were in transition aside*, recent displays have been the least enjoyable football I've seen at Stag Meadow (and away from home) in the 5 years I've been going down there. Perhaps expectation has something to do with that but the last month has been distinctly unimpressive. Injuries are certainly a contributory factor but no excuse - everyone gets them.

* On reflection, in that spell we had a bunch of very young players chucked in at the deep end trying to play decent football in a grown ups league and, yes, although at times it was beyond them, in its way it was quite rewarding despite the hammerings we received.

Not seeing much football this season for various reasons but style of play ahead of promotion for me. And local players ahead of both! I just wish every small NL club ( ie ones without realistic hopes of conference football) used the Windsor system but until then Windsor really can't expect to thrive at a higher level.

Anyway how are the grand plans coming along? Is there even a time scale?

Don't know. Last I heard (or can remember) the main potential partner re the gym facilities had had to withdraw their interest due to financial pressures. But that was many months ago.

Hardly a surprise. The fact it is not the clubs land must make any grand money making schemes unlikely. I'd of thought Crown Estates would have something to say.

And what about Slough's ground plans? I'm well out of the loop at the moment but that's gone silent too!

And Maidenhead and their vanity stand?
