JIM We need a goal scorer NOW

No point in bringing in a goalscorer when we don't create chances for him to score. Le Fondre and Pog are top strikers for this level, both completely wasted in this side.

Royal Lady Yeah well done. If you look at my post before you two chipped in, I said they are the same "style" of player - put themselves about a bit, can hold up the ball etc if you need me to expand. Absolutely DESPERATE for a striker now. :x

They're not the same style of player.

I don't understand everyone's opinion that if we get a new striker we'll play better. Today we seemed to have two tactics:

Get the ball out wide and cross it in. Le Fondre won't get on the end of many of those.

Hoof the ball up the pitch. Le Fondre won't win ANY of those. Pog isn't that good in the air for a big man either.

We seem to have very little creativity through the middle. If Le Fondre and Pog had balls played to their feet I'm sure they'd score plenty of goals.

If Adkins wants to play nice quick passing football with loads of goals scored and chances created, the Club need to back him and get the players he wants.

Because getting a new striker who would get on the end of those would improve us? :?

Any suggestions? The sort of names being thrown around this season by people on here (Hooper, Austin, Sharp) are NOT that sort of player and wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to us even if we did sign any of them. Van Persie wouldn't have scored for us today....

If we bring in a big target man we'll just go back to hoofing it all the time, I don't want us to turn into the next Stoke or West Ham.

We need a striker who can finish the 1 or 2 chances he will get a game, not pog who needs 15 chances to score.

Can we get the thread back on track? Is he signing or not? Guess it won't go
through yet as max time is 93 days and we will want the xmas period covered.

The Pog will only miss Wednesday so he will use Blackman and Kanu as cover or visa versa.

It seems we won't or can't pay Sharp's wages of £18K pw

To be honest, it doesn't matter who is up top, the player we need is a Sheringham type, the one who makes the chances for other people and chips in with a few themselves. The problem for us that we don't create enough chances, and hence we don't score enough. Anyone who thinks just getting another striker in is going to cure that is deluded. And as for this getting a striker who can score the one or two chances they get each game, good luck with that!! Not as if a striker who had a strike rate that was 1 out of 1, or say, 2 out of 3, would be worth his weight in gold is it? I'm no Snowball, but I can't even see RVP, Owen or Fowler being that good.

JIM TBM said its like renting a house, dead money. no it is not ,it is the difference between a full MAD STAD and an empty one. Pay the wages and say goodbye to the championship again. Then splash out to stay there in the premier div.

Billy Sharp will guarantee a full stadium? :?

£18k a week for a player that is no better than what we already have that we then give back at the end of the season, and if we don't go up = dead money

errr

ALF 149 goals in 366 appearances
Pog 119 in 347 (and a lot of those goals came some years ago)
Blackman 30 in 118

Sharp 141 in 310 (better than any of the above)

Lita 111 in 230 starts

So get Lita back instead of Sharp
