LUX Yes, but why should the UK/ Ireland be guaranteed a place?

someone Don't get why Brazil should get a spot either. They should have to qualify like everyone else.

I'm not really positioning this as a serious proposal.

For pure comedy value.

Tunisia automatically advances to the next round of play offs as Cape Verde is sanctioned and has to forfeit the games/disqualified.

Cape Verde is disqualified for fielding an ineligible player.

Cape Verde player Fernando Varela failed to serve the full four-match suspension imposed on him after receiving a red card on 24 March 2013.

That's a pretty big oxf*rd up to be honest but not as big as Birmingham City forgetting to enter the FA Cup one year.

Having seen Rooney miraculously turn out to play for Utd yesterday, if I were Hodgson, I wouldn't bother picking him again. He clearly could have played for England last week, wearing a headband - I heard someone on the radio saying the other day that you look back at people like Terry Butcher who played through a game, having injured his head during it, and just came back on in a bloodied headband, and you get the likes of Rooney who aren't fit to play for their country but can play for their club team a few days later.

I'd rather have players who WANT to play for England and are proud to, rather than some of these prima donnas who think a) it's their god given right to play and b) can't be arsed to play half the time anyway.

If it meant not qualifying for 2014 World Cup but Hodgson was playing younger players - the future of England football - in order to get them ready for 2018 - then I'd take that. It used to be that playing for England was an honour, now it seems that it's just a burden for a lot of these players. :x

Very true. The thing about the England team is that I just don't like them as people very much. They just don't come across as very nice or interesting.

Do-or-die for Mexico tonight against Panama!

Who wouldn't want to see Iceland get a stab at the play-offs, and beating Cyprus at home today is surely on the cards there?

And surely most of us would like to see Ecuador beat Uruguay in South America's crunch match.

All happening tonight!

Met a guy from Panama in the Purple Turtle a couple of years ago, he was there with a girl I know who worked at the hotel he was staying at (slut*), kept telling me how was living the dream being in the Turtle that night.

Panama just equalized in the 81st minute against Mexico. Honduras already won. Mexico in deep, deep trouble now.
