Royal Lady
melonhead
Royal Lady It was a quote from the Chronicle and about one of the councillors who joked that they needed to sign a player before expanding the stadium. Actually.

despite assurances we'd keep hold of 'em

NONONONONO!!!!!!11!!!!11!!

club clearly stated we would be losing at least two first teamers in the window.

in a much more unequivocable way than any promises made about 7 players coming in, or scoring 100 goals.

semms odd you would ignore those while focussing so much on the others

owners and board arent in a big habit of releasing regular statements
weve had plenty from manager and DOF though, as we usually do.

i encourage you to investiga8 teh fishiness, and get back to us with your findings, rather than just shouting "its fishy Its fishy!!!"

You're shouting. I'm just sharing my concerns. Honestly, has any money for players/academy etc. actually come from Anton/TSI?

Nah, people need to relax. The assumption was that our transfer targets would want to sign for us and instead they signed up to 'arry's cash machine. Who cares?

Anyone who thinks Anton's not investing needs to question why a former Real Madrid midfielder and a former Chelsea full back now play for us and why a Paris Saint Germain player considered joining.

HoneyRoastHoax

HoneyRoastHoax So many people are oxf*rd idiots with their conspiracy theories.

What a pcunt Anton is, bought us Jason Roberts who got us into the prem. Financed retaining players like Alex McCarthy, Pearce, HRK, pays for high wages for the likes of Drenthe, Bridge, Williams and Pog, gets us Cat 1 academy status, buys us a new training ground. Doesn't risk our finances by signing on a knee jerk player and gets us a great manager.

What a prick

So there is no income to fund all of this?
Premier League payout,what was it,something like £40,000,000?
Plus £12,500,000? for 4 years.
I know some of these earn big money but come on,get real.
BTW if you think that giving Pearce and Kanu 3 year contracts on improved terms was good business I can't take you seriously.

I didn't say there is no income to fund all this. you haven't even bothered reading what I wrote.

So many dickhead fans are for some reason expecting us to be the man city of the chump. We aren't even doing badly. we're reading football club and we're signing players decent players.

If you can't handle the fact we're not splashing millions then oxf*rd off back to supporting chelsea you gibbon

I took the trouble to read what you wrote where you said that Anton is such a good chap spending HIS money.
I felt it necessary to point out that the club had received just a minor amount of income during his tenure.
Not sure what the "back to supporting Chelsea you gibbon" is all about but just you keep on idolising the Russian with deep pockets if that's your bag.

Could the club not afford free agents Bridge and Drente without Anton? Admittedly, the ambitious hype may have had to be there for them to consider it...

Your definition of unequivocal is somewhat different to mine then. :|

"There are one or two players who probably see themselves playing at higher level, and why shouldn't they? "You've got to recognise that from time to time it's in everyone's interests to let a certain player go. "We've done it over the years and fans are not always happy about it when we do. But the fact is you can't keep players who do not want to be here".

Compare with:

"I think there will be five to seven new players coming in, including a couple this week. We have the targets locked up and, hopefully, they will work out."

Not with the signing on fees and wages that they're rumoured to be on, no. See Pog's £5m signing on etc. etc.

I love the bigging up of players that have failed at big-time clubs.
It wasn't Kaka,Asley Cole and Ibrahimovic that we signed.
BTW you forgot to mention the USA international from the Bundesliga.

Incidentally when were just a little club at Elm Park we signed captains of Poland and Bulgaria as well as Northern Ireland's record goalscorer so it's not just Anton's money that has affected signings by our club.

Could the parachute payments & TV money not have covered that? Plus, not sure if we pay out wages in lump sums.

Under SJM there's now way they'd be on the money they're on atm, and definitely no way we'd be giving out huge signing fees. Also, you don't get the parachute payments in one lump sum either do we? So it's not like we've just been handed £50m or whatever, it's a smaller amount alongside needing to recoup our loss of revenue through not being in the PL. There's a lot less money in being in the Championship and the club have to make sure they're prudent - especially with new UEFA regulations.

But we aren't under SJM. We are under a bloke who makes assurances of financial support.

Then that would suit paying out non-lump sum wages, then.

ure the one who thinks its a problem either way. Im happy if we are funding it through our own business dealings tbf. Seems sensible. And more importantly fits with statements tsi have made

But 'without Anton' we're under SJM, all I'm saying is that without Anton we wouldn't be able to afford them. And the parachute payments this year will probably be put towards recouping the loss in revenue we'll suffer if we're not spending it .

What I'm saying is, that a different dude in charge promising different things, doesn't mean there is a different dude in charge with more money.

What I'm also saying is, would we really not be able to afford these players without Anton's money?

Which in turn leads me to wonder if Anton really has put any money in and this in turn leads me to wonder if the new owner has any money, and if this is not the reason for our player sales and lack of transfer activity.

I'm merely countering the premise that Drente/Bridge proves Anton has money and that there is therefore no financial problem.

Why should it come from them? SJM loaned RFC money for most part to improve training facilities, purchase players etc, on top of club income. New so called wealthy owners doesn't mean everything should be bought out of their pocket!

I agree its difficult to see what the Russians have bought to the club so far other than a lot of hype but little tangible. Yes they may have put up some money for Roberts. They certainly looked to have wasted money with Pog and Drenthe , both I understand of Zing's doing. They say money was available last year but Brian says he spent it all. I hope things will get better but certainly wasn't expecting us to have been in this situation 12 months ago.

Royal Lady Some of us spoke out about feeling uneasy from the very beginning. No one from the board has spoken about anything recently. I also read on twitter last night, something about the expansion plans and the club asking for an extra week...not sure what that was all about tbh. I can't see, however, how AZ could remortgage the club/hotel if he doesn't own them 100% in the first place...however, something isn't right.

I think you might well find that he does already own them 100% but just owes John Madejski money on them. Apparently there is a charge registered on the stadium/land that it stands on, in the name of a company registered in the British Virgin Isles. I suspect that could well be one of JM's companies and that he has placed a charge on the property until Anton pays the outstanding money.

As far as I'm concerned, the only thing amiss is our dismal dealings in the transfer market during the latter stages of the last window.
