peterroyal76
Royal Lady
MouldyRoyal Minor injury.

So why did Tim tell Peterroyal or whatever his name is, that the club told him he couldn't mention it? :|

Gareth's partner went into labour early on Sunday, the club wanted Tim to say he was tired after his trip to play for Jamaica and then Gareth contacted the club and asked that he just said he wasn't available Sunday. It's no longer a secret he just wanted it kept quiet on the day. Which was why Tim said on Sunday that wasn't any major drama and he wasn't left out for disciplinary reasons, injury or being loaned out.

Have they said how the labour went? Hopefully ok and a new baby son/daughter

Jeez - unless they were expecting complications, why all the cloak and dagger stuff - plenty of footballers have missed games cos their partner is giving/has just given birth...hope everything is ok with baby McCleary then.

melonhead :D just sounded like a personal thing, which in HR terms th eclub wasnt really allowed to broadcast

possibly bereavement, dunno.

what happens if someone tells you to worry?

 So he hasn't got a minor injury then? So now I'm very worried that someone has died that is close to him  If I'm told to worry, then, of course, I worry. I'm not bloody stupid.

if your default position is to worry
forgive me if i dont worry with you
or spend much time trying to make you not worry in future

No - it isn't anyone else's business - but normally players are happy to let it be known they're about to become a dad/have just become a dad - just found it strange that's all - like I say, I hope everything is ok. BTW, it is possible to have a bloody opinion about stuff on here you know, and speak about stuff which we find out. #justsayin

It's interesting to hear that, because when the Peterborough team news was announced the RFC Offical facebook feed said that "Stephen Kelly misses out tonight after his partner went into labour. Best wishes to the Kelly clan! "

I wonder why the change of policy.

Maybe Stephen Kelly was happy for it to be public knowledge, but Garath McCleary wanted it to be kept private. Why does it have to be a club policy and not just a personal choice?

Debating whether we should know if a players partner has gone into labour is a new low even for the team board. Is there nothing you gimps won't argue about?

Re: Dellor. I confess I've not followed this entire thread but if he did call a guy because of a Twitter message and explain things to him then that's absolutely commendable IMHO

Not really relevant, but I never like the formulation: has become a father for the second time (which mostly seems to be used in the context of sportsmen), unless his first child died, he ceased being a father and has now had a second child.
