Cureton's Volley Who do we leave out the squad if he comes?

Not sure I understand the question. I don't think we have a limit to the squad, unlike the Prem so we simply add him to what we already have.

If you mean the matchday 16, well that is an ever changing cast so on one day you could say Blackman might miss out with Pog and Sharp starting and Alfie on the bench but on another day you could pick all 4 strikers and go with fewer defenders.

I'd assume that Pog, Alfie and Sharp would be first choice in some permutation though.

Problem is that ALF and Sharp are too similar to be both on the bench and with Blackman missing out .... could be interesting. But should be OK as we're allowed quite a few subs.

Sharp isn't as similar to Alf as many make out. He has a lot more to his game than Alf. It will be interesting how we keep all four happy, but I think we can all see Blackman is seen more of a right forward/winger than a striker now, so he could be McCleary's replacement/cover when required.

I thought he meant the 25 man squad, but Sharp would be the 25th, unless i've missed someone.

If this move actually does happen, along with bringing in Baird, the club will have addressed the failings @ the end of the transfer window imo. With Sharp, along with a Pog who finds (hopefully has found) his form and has his head in the right place, I would expect to see a few more in the back of the opposition's net.

Surely the 25 man squad is a Premier League rule and therefore completely irrelevant....?

It looks like Sharp in now definitely coming which is great news and will strengthen the squad.

To be fair to the club they do have a dilemma as to when to start the loan. If they start it this week, then it will end before the Middlesbrough game (Dec 29th) whereas if they start it from October 1st then it will run until the new transfer window and if Sharp does well there will probably be the chance of making it permanent then.

So for me I would start the loan from 1st October and run with what we have for the Birmingham game.

So this is an 'emergency loan' but we get to chose when the emergency starts!

You know as well as I do that loans are used for all sorts of purposes and the word "emergency" is a bit of a farce.

Yeah, the FA / FL's dictionary definition of "emergency" is "short-term".

It would seem daft not to make sure he is available asap, give Adkins as much choice as possible as soon as possible.
After all by delaying you still have him for the same number of games.
We can sign him on a permanent as soon as his loan runs out anyway, the window doesn't stop you signing players, just playing them. So we could sign him on December 29th and put the registration paperwork through as soon as the window opens.

Although it'd be preferable for him to come in to the line up (if that is intended) later than to have to juggle your selection later on for a game just because you signed him a few days to early.

If we signed him today he'd miss Leicester and Middlesborough away (I'm guessing he'd be fine for Forest on 1st Jan as the window will be open). Had we signed him on Thursday he'd have missed the Wigan game as well.
If we wait for another week he'll just miss the Brum game, and be available for the Xmaseriod right into January.....no brainer to wait really....

Strongly suspect that the deal is done and were just waiting for the timings to drop into place so we have him available for two tough away games....

We have just had a good result so I'd hang on til after the brum game. keep him under our wing, if he does very well we can keep him here and sign him instead of him doing well and be given a few days away and get interested in other clubs
