Hoop Blah Having now seen Blackmans goal I think it's hilarious if he's used that as an opportunity to stick the proverbial finger up at the boo boys.

A decent supporting run, a poor touch and a bit of fortune that a scuffed shot made it past the keeper and he thinks he's proved a point?

His point is that we have a moronic element to our fan base. Unfortunately that point is perpetually proved.

Playing mostly as a winger and this season 400 minutes, for 2 goals.

I don't give a monkey's how the go in. A goal is a goal is a goal.

LoyalRoyal22 Yeh his reaction annoyed me. Scuffed finish aswell.

You're exactly the kind of tard he was doing it for.

Is it just me who thinks moderators shouldn't be calling posters "tards".
I see you insult posters quite frequently.
Surely you should attempt to be a bit more neutra,l and less rude.

At least "Platypuss" doesn't hide the act that he is a mod; unlike other mods on here. So be warned.

Pog was shite this time last week. Now he's a Super Hero.

Blackman was also shite, but he scored a pen up and Bolton and scored yesterday. Great to see his reaction to the postage stamp of Reading fans behind the goal yesterday.

Really did make the majority fans look silly after all the abuse you've given them.

My apologies. Comparing LoyalRoyal22 to a "tard" is an insult to those with learning disabilities. It won't happen again.

He was brought into the team in unrealistic circumstances and showed pretty good resilience to even appear for a Premeiership side in the situation at the time. The fact that he has remained in the squad and has been given a very good run of appearances must mean that he is rated, and rated by a significantly more qualified football professional that 99% of the fans, while competing against the likes of McAnuff, McCleary and KRK. Clearly he has something, something that perhaps shows better in training and what tactics NA wants out of the squad. I suggest his commitment and effort outweigh any desire to boo, so the net effect should just be to say nothing. His ability no doubt will grow with the confidence.

Are you for real!??

Scraping the bottom of the barrel slightly there. With a defender breathing down his neck to get it in especially at that angle is an infinitely better than Pog's goals.

I was expecting it to be awful but this is a great piece of striking by Nick as far as I'm concerned.

Good work Blackman!!!

If scoring a goal for Reading does not excite you Blackman, do us all a favour and move on. Give the chance to someone who does give a toss.

I've had the chance to look at his reaction and I've no idea what all the fuss is about.

So he doesn't do cartwheels, pretend he's playing golf or cradling a baby, but he doesn't do anything at all that could be construed as offensive in any way.

what possible difference does it make whether someone celebrates in a particular way. Seem to remember a certain Cantona who simply stand like a statue after scoring.

Now if he'd given someone the finger, or even poked his tongue out or cupped his ear you could explain the hysteria, but this all seems like 'any reason to have a go at him', even when he's done something positive

The long and short of all this is Blackman made a bad decision off the back of a scuffed goal. Some fans are dumb asses for booing, that will only destroy his confidence more and make him more & more useless.
Some twots on this board are moronic enough to he happy with shyte players at the club and dig at fans that wants to see our club progress, with the players that give their all & respect club and fans, so we can be the amongst the best... we all go to games hoping Reading win... apart from some Melon heads on this board of course.

Can ppl stop calling this a scuffed goal like it was some sort of pathetic accident goal???

I've watched it over and over, Blackman does very well with a powerful run alongside a defender and gets a foot in that directs the ball at a hard angle directly into the goal. Are we suggesting he wasn't somehow aiming for the goal. The boy did good. His stare was silly but come on the goal was fine!!

Nick Blackman's done his best every time I've seen him play.

He's never been particularly awful, not in the context of performances his teammates have turned in. Remember he moved up two levels last season.

Reading fans boo him because they're idiots (I say this with all sincerity, Reading fans really are idiots)

Blackman scores and you all expect him to leap in the crowd and give you a hug? Jeeesus, guy's had tonnes of pointless abuse and I thought his celebration was totally justified. If anything he did well no to do anything more extravagant than that. If you give it out to one of our own players then don't be surprised to get it back.

Wow, how graceless.

It's not enough that he's scored, you're now complaining about the way he scored the goal? Took the ball whilst sprinting up in support, one touch at pace, stuck it in the back of the net. Well done Nick.

well said, but don`t tar all our fans with the same brush. it`s all small minority of idiots that follow every club, I will not ever boo or jeer one of our own players , no matter how badly he is doing form is temporary class is permanent, the same with our big Russian, if he continues to score goals do you think the likes of Reading4eva will come on here and admit he was wrong?, not a flaming chance.

No, that's a fair point. 2000 applauding and 200 booing at it's the latter who get heard.

I do think the fanbase needs a bit of a reality check though. I honestly couldn't get my head round the recent moaning - we'd had a decent start to the season and yet you'd think we were in the bottom three. Plus, for all the moaning about transfers, we're paying some excellent players some very big wages (Bridge, Guthrie, Drenthe, Pogrebnyak etc) and they *should* be dominating games at this level.
