We expect professional sportsman to look after themselves, keep fit, stay out of trouble, and put in 100% effort and commitment when they're on the pitch. That's fair enough.

But should we also expect them to be objects of abuse for emotionally stunted middle aged men on a Saturday afternoon and then be all happy dappy? Nah, sorry that's not part of the job description.

Ian Royal TBH I doubt anyone at the club has even noticed his alleged reaction or could give a toss. Storm in a teacup.

Then those at the club are blind and/or stupid. It will not be a storm in a teacup if, as a consequence of his antagonistic reaction to the fans, the boo boys now really go for him and completely destroy the confidence of a £500k? signing.

lol- you mean go for him more than booing and jeering every time he arrives on, or leaves the pitch?

get over yourselves.

the nasty man looked at us!

Your taking the piss at what you see as a stupid situation (and I don't necessarily disagree with that) will not alter the way that some people behave towards him and yes, his reaction does mean they are even more likely to pick on his failings.

I reiterate, whilst understandable, Blackman's reaction was stupid and very unprofessional. If he and his advisers/supporters can't see that, then I feel sorry for him because, unless he changes his attitude towards the (horrible)supporters, he is unnecessarily likely to make his life at the club far more difficult than it needs to be.

I don't expect professional sportsman to be beyond reproach but I do expect them to have the mental strength and confidence to deal with a little criticism without needing to throw their toys out the pram.

Will that be the case at all times? No, probably not. However, when they do show a little petulance and ingratitude to those that have travelled up to support them I expect them to take the fair criticism of that reaction on the chin (which he probably is to be fair to him).

Could someone get hold of Snowball to run a poll to find the average age of those that think :

a) Blackman was immature and should have jumped into the crowd to celebrate
b) Blackman showed considerable self-constraint to ensure he didn't jump into the crowd to celebrate (for which he would have been booked, which is VERY unprofessional)
c) MEH !!

I find myself defending a position of a player that, I must admit, I don't really get as a Championship standard player, but what, exactly, has he done to the poor, 'ickle fans. He's looked at them - so what
You've celebrated, the team's got three points, we all go home happy

Would like it if someone could explain to me what he's actually done to cause so much upset.

Some people thought he was being a cheeky oxf*rd with his goal celebration but it turns out that 'the stare' is actually his standard goal celebration but nobody realised because he's only scored twice in 9 months bless him.

He's been 'not up with the best' in most games and then off the back of one lucky goal (his only one from open play) acted like he was a God with attitude towards fans that had travelled and payed to support their club.

Apparently it's his standard celebration.
Have you addressed this allegation yet, or did I miss it?

Maybe I have to break it down a bit further.

I saw the game. I am aware that Blackman has not been brilliant in his career at our club.

However, what did he actually 'do' that has upset you. What 'attitude' did he display, and how did he do it? As far as I am aware he scored a goal and then looked at the fans. There is no rule for celebrating. If you are upset by a man looking at you then you must have difficulty leaving the house.

Isn't this just an urban myth that's developing because someone said that most of the pictures on google images were of him looking surely (which I don't think it's the case)?

What has he done? Well it looks like his celebration was a deliberate two fingers up at the Reading fans for some jeering and frustration due to his less than average performance. It's not a massive deal no, but considering the time, effort and expense those fans have made to go and support the team to take such a stance is a bit poor really.

But he hasnt taken a stance! He stood and looked! Why is that a stance, or two fingers up. If someone stares at a piece of art in a gallery are they sticking two fingers up at it? It's so sad that people have got accustomed to elaborate celebrations that they read too much into it when someone doesn't do one.

LOL at this. You still have yet to explain what this 'attitude' was. He stood and looked at the fans. If you get upset by someone looking at you then you are a sad little man indeed.

Also are you somehow unable to quote?
