Unbelievable Jeff I love the guy, but can anyone please explain what Drenthe has done in the last 3 or 4 games to justify starting above Obita/McCleary/McAuff?

-Whipped in the free kick for the Leeds win.
-Creates space for others
-Is oxf*rd cool
-Is the type of player you pay money to watch.

Plus he always gets oxf*rd munched

looks like your wearing Royston Tinted Glasses there mate
yes I will agree that against Leeds his delivery was good, however against Brighton and Yeovil it was abysmal.
He is rather lazy off the ball, he tries to overcomplicate everything, spends half the time falling over.

I'm not saying that he will not come good and he is undoubtedly talented but does he really deserve a place more than any other of our wingers?

You can't really single him out for Brighton and Yeovil because everyone was shit in those games.

To get the best out of Drenthe, he needs to be motivated, which means he needs to play regularly. Unfair though it might be on others, it's part and parcel of signing players like Royston.

Wins a lot of freekicks. He's fouled more than anyone else.

But for 85% of the game he is insufficient

He clearly scares the life out of defenders. That's a positive. He's our most prolific shooter. He's in our top three for key passes per game. Most successful dribbler.

Now I don't necessarily put huge amounts of credibility to those stats and he has his faults certainly. But if you're telling me you can't see what he adds to our attack and why he wouldn't be a good bet for coming straight back into the line up when fit, you need to pay more attention.

Definite candidate for subbing on 70 minutes though.

I don't think anyone is saying he doesn't add anything.

Ian Royal I'm assuming that Bridge, Williams, Drenthe and McAnuff are all likely to be back fit.

...............McCarthy
..Kelly..Morrison..Pearce..Bridge
....Williams..Guthrie..Baird
Drenthe...........................HRK
..............Pogrebnyak

Subs: Federici, Gunter, Gorkss, McAnuff, McCleary, ALF, Blackman

Really tough choices here. I'd be equally as happy with somthing like this as I really would like to see McAnuff and ALF in there somewhere. Same for Drenthe, although it would be nearly criminal to drop HRK for anyone after Derby:

...............McCarthy
..Kelly..Morrison..Pearce..Bridge
.......Baird..Guthrie.....McAnuff
Drenthe.....................ALF
..............Pogrebnyak

..............McCarthy
..Kelly..Morrison..Pearce..Bridge
.......Baird..Guthrie..Williams
McCleary................Robson-Kanu
.............Pogrebnyak

Subs: Federici, Gorkss, Gunter, Akpan, Drenthe, ALF, Sharp

Pogman and Blacrebnyak to start up front. Keep Le Sharp on the bench and Billy Fondre on in the last ten minutes.

McDrenthe to come back in on the wing and Robson-Bita on the other side.

McCarthy

Gunter Morrison Pearce Bridge

Williams

Guthrie

Mcleary HRK Le Fondre

Pogrebniak

With Sharp coming in I think Alfie deserves a start so he can prove a point and with 2 strikers sitting on the bench they aren't both going to be able to play and I think they are both too good to be unused subs. Obita had a good game but I think he should be put on the bench to put a bit more experience into the team against a tricky opposition. Baird also played well but seemed to be lacking in fitness and I think he would struggle to keep up the pace again. Williams hopefully will be back from injury so it will be good for him to get some match fitness.

Subs:

Federici
Kelly
Gorkss
Baird
Obita
Drenthe
Sharp

I like your thinking, but why put Le Fondre on the wing when you have a perfectly good winger playing behind the striker?
The formation's a bit strange too, why not just show it as 4-2-3-1?

ALF was left wide forward last time I saw us start 4-3-3. It seemed more of a central role with responsibilities to do defensive work down the left flank rather than conventional wide player.

Le Fondre is a prolific goal scorer for us. His positioning and first touch are amazing, but he's utter dogshit in the wide position.

I would like to see Sharp given a start cos he's gonna be so up for it. A bit harsh on HRK and ALF but they're both good impact players, so bring them on late to get the winner

Maybe we could pay Kebe to come back and give him some 'decision making' coaching?

Push the full backs up the pitch, let Baird drop into centre back, to create 3 centre back defence when we are attacking and let HRK & Drenthe come into the middle.

Very attack minded with good defensive cover
