winchester_royal I wanted to believe that there was ambitious investment behind the club. I wanted to believe that significant amounts of money were going into making our academy one of the best in the country. I wanted to believe in our young Russian owner's fairytale quest for European football. I wanted to believe in the Adkins Adolescents. :(

Why do you lot do this to yourselves? Why now this out-pouring of grief and disappointment that the shadowy overseas investor that you don't know anything about turns out to be anything other than the Knight in shining armour 'you wanted' to believe in.

I suggest if you ever find an e-mail in your inbox from a Nigerian Prince asking you to transfer money into his account then you must delete it straight away.

Steady on Floyd some of these young chaps are still getting over the death of Lady Di, or at least what their mums and dads have said about the people's princess.

Reliable posters who defend the club and who don't believe in conspiracy theories are now coming out saying they have serious doubts.

And posters like me who have been very critical of the club and Madejski are now coming out saying chill out. What's HNA coming to?

LOL @ a photo of handshake with a brown guy + a delay in the transfer of funds + opinions of a couple blokes down pubs = everything is oxf*rd up, Madejski has been duped, we're selling to some ragheads etc.

1) Sir John is one of the shrewdest most careful men in business for a start.
2) Even buying a £500k house is full of problems at exchange for people who have the cash, let alone exchanging with £12million
3) The club has ploughed on and put lots into cat1 etc. this doesn't seem like a club about to fold.

Anyone wanting to buy this club would see it as a very well run club with lots of opportunity and would be mad to dismantle it anyway.

Whether we have ragheads or Russians, we'll be fine I'm sure.

Ermm, I thought it would have been obvious enough that that paragraph was tongue in cheek but obviously I wasn't counting on your outstanding intellect Floyd.

Besides I don't watch football to be cynical. The drama/glory/hope of the possibility of success is what all sport is built on. The day I stop dreaming is the day I stop following Reading FC.

So why are the local media (BBC Berkshire, Evening Post etc.) not banging on John Madejski's, Nigel Howe's, Anton Zingarevich's or Chris Samuelson's door asking them to clarify exactly what the situation is once and for all?

Answer, because this is all a load of cobblers with only rumours being printed to sensationalism's sake

Either way we shall see by January and the start of the window........

Err bcause AZ doesn't have a door to bang on in this country; ditto Samuelson; NH does what SJM tells him to; and SJM used to part own EP who are very reliant on football for their sales; and the BBC don't want to end up in a Leeds scenario where they are banned from the ground (Bates banned the local BBC for asking similar financial questions when he was chairman). None of these people have an interest in washing dirty financial linen in public and none of the local media have an interest in forcing the issue (unlike BBC Leeds). These are people you don't get to meet unless they want to meet you on their terms and get "good" press.

AFAIK AZ has never met STAR since his takeover despite numerous requests perhaps because he did not want to answer some specific questions on what exactly the takeover would mean for RFC (or politely stonewall some obvious questions so you could draw your own conclusions).

I imagine he is quaking in his boots at the usual STAR interrogation of Reading FC staff:

"Hi Anton. In light of all the allegations about your finances, or lack of them, I wonder if you can please describe your perfect Sunday afternoon?"

^^^ rofl.

I've been told by four different people, who have never met, that the original deal will go ahead as planned. Nothing to worry about folks.

"Recent reports in the media hint that you could be about to sell your shares rather than buy up those that remain which leaves us at STAR wondering: what is your favourite cereal at the moment and if you were a animal, what would you be?"

"Welcome to the forum Anton. The media suggest you are on the verge of selling your share to Saudi businessmen. Would you say Breaking Bad is better than The Wire in the "all-time TV greats" list?"

I have talked to four different people who have never met and none of them know anything about what is going on. Clear evidence of a conspiracy of silence at the club?

Frankly it screams as being the same old 'where's the money gone' bollox as we've always had thats always been wrong.

I tend to dismiss dirk on tsi because he seems to have had an axe to grind from the beginning that hasn't tallied with the actions. I still think this is a lot of hot air that doesn't fit what we actually know, spreading panic.

^^this

but i do realise that dirk is probably much more ITK than i am, and when he starts talking about specifics-rather than " i mistrust the whole thing- it just seems fishy"- albeit without any evidence i have seen, im much more willing to take it into account.

him saying it is evidence of a sort

@ReadingFC
You can now download the official 2013/14 team photo in 4 sizes for wallpaper backgrounds: http://rdng.co/1crr1Ve pic.twitter.com/Y42gOOabk3

Would they really be letting us do this if liquidation was imminent?

Maguire This board is going to be LOL if it all falls through.

As long as we can still get a team out on the pitch then I, for one, welcome our new Saudi overlords.

Right idea wrong country. think of somewhere similar but much smaller.
